Homalocerus is a genus of beetles in the family Belidae. [1] [2]
The following species are recognised in the genus Homalocerus: [3]
The Cerophytidae are a family of beetles belonging to Elateroidea. Larvae are associated with rotting wood, on which they are presumed to feed. The family contains over 20 species in five genera, primarily distributed in the New World, but also in Eurasia and Africa. 17 fossil species in 7 genera are known extending to the Early Jurassic. Like some other elateroids, the adults are capable of clicking.
Pupillidae is a family of mostly minute, air-breathing, land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks or micromollusks in the superfamily Pupilloidea.
Acrosticta is a genus of picture-winged flies in the family Ulidiidae. An unknown member of this genus was the only successful pollinator of Acianthera aphthosa.
Garreta is a genus of dung beetles in the scarab beetle family (Scarabaeidae). There are more than 20 described species; most are African and some are from Asia. They are generally found in fairly moist habitats.
Gymnopleurus is a genus of Scarabaeidae or dung beetles in the superfamily Scarabaeoidea.
Nomen illegitimum is a technical term used mainly in botany. It is usually abbreviated as nom. illeg. Although the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants uses Latin terms as qualifiers for taxon names, the definition of each term is in English rather than Latin. The Latin abbreviations are widely used by botanists and mycologists.
Mordella is the type genus of the tumbling flower beetle family (Mordellidae), its subfamily Mordellinae and the tribe Mordellini. It is widely distributed in the Holarctic and adjacent regions. The larvae are primarily dead wood borers.
Conognatha is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, tribe Stigmoderini, containing the following species: They are found in the Neotropical realm.
Pterobothris is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, containing the following species:
Acmaeodera is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, a group of metallic wood-boring beetles favored by insect collectors. Whereas most beetles including most buprestids fly with their elytra held out and vibrating their hindwings to give lift and thrust, Acmaedodera, however, fly with their hind wings only — the elytra are fused down the center and form a shield over the insect's abdomen, even during flight. This fact, combined with the banding across the abdomen which is common in this family, gives many of them a distinct wasp-like appearance when in flight. Several are therefore considered hymenopteran mimics.
Tyndaris is a genus of "jewel beetles" in the subfamily Polycestinae, containing the following species:
Hephaestion is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae.
Stenorhopalus is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Bimiini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, containing the following genera and species:
Unxiini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, found in South America.
Chenoderus is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Alcathousites is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Desmiphorini is a tribe of longhorn beetles of the subfamily Lamiinae.
Anchylorhynchus is a genus of weevils belonging the family Curculionidae and subfamily Curculioninae. It currently includes 25 described species distributed from Panama to Argentina. Members of the genus are pollinators of palms in the genera Syagrus, Oenocarpus and Butia, with adults living in inflorescences and larvae feeding on developing fruits. The first instar larvae of Anchylorhynchus have an unusual morphology, being specialized on killing other larvae infesting the palm fruits.
