The Village
The village is small but still benefits from several amenities including a village pub (The Red Lion), [3] the Post office, a Spar shop, a Newsagent's shop, three hairdressers, a fish and chip shop, an Indian takeaway and three local parks spread throughout the village. . [4]
At the edge of the village is Huncote Leisure Centre and further along the Forest Road, near to the M69 motorway, is the home of Leicester Animal Aid, a pet rescue centre. Huncote also has a woodyard, and a residential care home for the elderly.
In October 2015, the post office was moved into the Spar shop and now caters for both needs.

Coalville is a town in the district of North West Leicestershire, Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England. In 2011, it had a population of 34,575. It lies on the A511 between Leicester and Burton upon Trent, close to junction 22 of the M1 motorway where the A511 meets the A50 between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Leicester. It borders the upland area of Charnwood Forest to the east of the town.

Anstey is a large village in Leicestershire, England, located north west of Leicester in the borough of Charnwood. Its population was 9,000 at the 2021 census. This figure is expected to increase due to the building of a new housing development off Groby Road. The village is separated from Leicester by the Rothley Brook, Castle Hill Park and the A46, and it borders the villages of Glenfield, Groby, Newtown Linford, Cropston and Thurcaston as well as the suburb of Beaumont Leys and Anstey Heights. To the north-west lies Bradgate Park.

Glen Parva is a civil parish in the Blaby district of Leicestershire, England, with a population of over 17,000. The population of the civil parish, including Eyres Monsell was 17,189 in the 2011 census. To the north it runs into Aylestone and to the east South Wigston. Markfield is a large village in both the National Forest and Charnwood Forest and in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. A variant of this is still used as the name for the village primary school, Mercenfeld. It is to the south-east of Junction 22 of the M1, and to the south of the A50. The highest point in Markfield is shown on OS sheet 129 at 222 metres above sea level. Nearby places are Newtown Linford, Groby, Field Head, and Stanton under Bardon. In the 1841 census its population was recorded at 1,203. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 5681. In 2012 Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council published an overview of the Markfield conservation area.
Ratby is a commuter village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. It is situated to the west of Leicester, and just south of the M1 motorway. The population of the civil parish was measured in the 2011 census as 4,468. Other nearby places include Field Head, Kirby Muxloe, Glenfield and Markfield. The proximity of Ratby to Leicester causes it to form part of the Leicester Urban Area.
Sileby is a former industrial village and civil parish in the Soar Valley in the Charnwood borough of Leicestershire, England. It is located between Leicester and Loughborough. Charlton is a small village and civil parish northwest of Andover. Due to the expansion of Andover in recent years the two settlements are now effectively contiguous. Bretton is a settlement and civil parish on the north western edge of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Bretton has been designed as a green environment; the major roads are tree-lined and there are several large parks and playing fields. It consists of two main areas; North Bretton and South Bretton, these are divided by Bretton Centre. North Bretton has the larger population and is home to the industrial estates and most leisure facilities as well as the Crematorium. The main entrance to Milton Hall is from Bretton Way in South Bretton and Nene Park is accessed via an under pass beneath the A47.
