Hungary–Malaysia relations are foreign relations between Hungary and Malaysia. Hungary has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, [1] and Malaysia has an embassy in Budapest. [2]
Diplomatic relations between the two countries have been established since 1969, [3] with the Malaysian embassy established in 1993. [4] Despite the closure of Hungarian Embassy in Malaysia to cut state spending, [5] the relations still remain via the Taman Melawati Farmer's Market in Malaysia. [4] In 2015, the Hungarian embassy was re-opened. [6] [7] [8]
Both countries are in the process of enhancing their bilateral and economic relations. In 2012, Hungary stands at the 31st source of imports for Malaysia. [4] In 1993, both Hungary and Malaysia signed a document for the promotion and protection of investments in Kuala Lumpur, [9] the agreement to avoid double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion in term with also coming into effect on the same year. [10] Before the economic crisis, the total bilateral trade amounted to U$730 million and dropped substantially to U$400–450 million during the economic crisis. [3] Continuous efforts have been undertaken to reach pre-crisis levels and in 2011, it has increased to U$570 million. [3] The Hungarian subsidiary of Sony Corp. also moved their manufacturing plants to Malaysia. [11]
In 2018, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on higher education was signed to facilitate the recognition process of universities in both countries and to establishing collaboration in scientific, technical and administrative fields. Through the MoU, 40 scholarships were also being offered by the Hungarian government starting from the academic year of 2018. [12]
Malaysia is an active member of various international organisations, including the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. It has also in recent times been an active proponent of regional co-operation.
Malaysia–Sweden relations refers to foreign relations between Malaysia and Sweden. Sweden has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Stockholm. As of 2009, 90 Swedish companies are present in Malaysia and about 450 Swedish citizens live in Malaysia. The number of Swedish citizens visiting Malaysia in 2011 was 44,138.
Malaysia–Venezuela relations are foreign relations between Malaysia and Venezuela. Malaysia has had an embassy in Caracas since 1990, while Venezuela has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Diplomatic relations were established on 18 December 1986. Both countries are full members of the Group of 77.
Georgia–Malaysia relations are foreign relations between Georgia and Malaysia. Both countries established diplomatic relation on May 7, 1993. Georgia has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The Georgian embassy was established in December 2013. As of 2015, there was no Malaysian embassy in Georgia, Malaysia is represented in Georgia through its embassy in Kyiv (Ukraine).
Iran–Malaysia relations refers to the current and historical relationship between Iran and Malaysia. Iran has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Tehran. Both countries are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and have used these forums and bilateral relations to develop political ties.
Malaysia–Oman relations refers to the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Oman. Malaysia has an embassy in Muscat, and Oman has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Chile–Malaysia relations refers to foreign relations between Malaysia and Chile. Chile has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Santiago. Both countries are members of APEC.
Malaysia–Sudan relations refers to the bilateral ties between Malaysia and Sudan. Malaysia has an embassy in Khartoum, and Sudan has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Both countries are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
East Timor–Malaysia relations or Malaysia–Timor-Leste relations are foreign relations between Malaysia and East Timor. Malaysia has an embassy in Dili, and East Timor has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is supporting East Timor to be one of the members of ASEAN and towards becoming a democratic country.
Malaysia–Yemen relations are foreign relations between Malaysia and Yemen. Malaysia formerly had an embassy in Sana'a, of which its operations had been relocated to Muscat, Oman and Yemen has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Finland–Malaysia relations are foreign relations between Finland and Malaysia. Finland has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Helsinki.
Ecuador–Malaysia relations are foreign relations between Ecuador and Malaysia. Ecuador has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, while Malaysia has an honorary consul in Quito that is supervised by Malaysian embassy in Santiago. Both countries are members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Malaysia–Qatar relations are foreign relations between Malaysia and Qatar. Malaysia has an embassy in Doha, and Qatar has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur since 2004.
Malaysia–Nepal relations refer to bilateral foreign relations between Malaysia and Nepal. Malaysia has an embassy in Kathmandu, and Nepal has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuwait–Malaysia relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between Kuwait and Malaysia. Kuwait has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Kuwait City. Relations between the two countries are mainly in economic co-operation.
Jordan–Malaysia relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between the two countries, Jordan and Malaysia. Jordan has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Amman. Relations between the two countries are mainly in economic co-operation.
Malaysia–Morocco relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between Malaysia and Morocco. Malaysia has an embassy in Rabat, and Morocco has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Both countries are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Lebanon–Malaysia relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between Lebanon and Malaysia. Lebanon has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Beirut.
