Husaini bin Omar (born 10 March 1963) is a Malaysian academic,geologist,researcher,engineer and former Director-General of Higher Education from 1 February 2021 until 9 March 2023.
Husaini holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors (Geology) from the University of Malaya in 1988 and a Master of Geological Engineering from the University of Leeds,United Kingdom in 1994. He subsequently obtained a Doctor of Engineering (System Engineering) from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2002. [1] [2]
Husaini has eight years of industry experience as a geological engineer before starting his career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1996. He enjoyed academic and administrative success until he was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of UPM on 15 February 2017 before assuming the position of Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan on 1 January 2018 until 6 January 2019. He subsequently assumed the duties of chief executive officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) from 1 June 2020 until 31 January 2021. [3] [4]
Tun Hussein bin Dato' Onn was a Malaysian lawyer and politician who served as the 3rd Prime Minister of Malaysia from the death of his predecessor Abdul Razak Hussein in January 1976 to his retirement in July 1981. Moreover,he was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sri Gading from 1974 to 1981,representing Barisan Nasional (BN) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). He was granted the soubriquet Father of Unity.
Universiti Sains Malaysia is a public research university in Malaysia. The Nik Family refers to the people who have the Nik title in front of their names in Malaysia. The Nik family largely originated from the state of Kelantan,which is located on the east coast of the Malaysian Peninsula. As Nik is part of the Malay Title by inheritance,it is customary for the title to be passed on to the children of a father who has the Nik title. Rarely,the title is also passed on from a mother having the Nik title. According to the history of Kelantan,the first recognised Sultan of Kelantan,Sultan Muhammad I,was also known as Nik Muhammadiah. Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 16th Menteri Besar of Selangor since June 2018,Member of Parliament (MP) for Gombak since November 2022 and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Tua since May 2018 and for Batu Caves from March 2008 to May 2018. Mazlan bin Lazim is a retired Malaysian police officer who served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police of Malaysia (DIG) under Inspector-General (IGP) Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani from June to December 2021. He was the director of the Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and had stints as police chief for Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur.
Tun Arshad bin Ayub was a Malaysian academician and educator. He was a founding father of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM),Malaysia's largest higher learning institution,where he was its director from 1967 to 1975,later served as its Pro-Chancellor from 2000 until his death in 2022. He was widely known as the national education icon.
