The IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award [1] is a Technical Field Award established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 2001. It is an institute level award, not a society level award. [2] It is presented for outstanding early to mid-career contributions to technologies holding the promise of innovative applications. The prize is sponsored by Dr. Kiyo Tomiyasu, [3] the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, and the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT).
This award may be presented to an individual, multiple recipients or team of up to three people. Candidates must have graduated within the last fifteen years and must be no more than forty-five years old when nominated. Recipients of this award receive a bronze medal, certificate, and honorarium.
Moe Z. Win is a Burmese-American mathematician and electrical engineer known for his work in wireless communications. He is currently a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The IEEE Robert N. Noyce Medal is a science award presented by the IEEE for outstanding contributions to the microelectronics industry. It is given to individuals who have demonstrated contributions in multiple areas including technology development, business development, industry leadership, development of technology policy, and standards development. The medal is named in honour of Robert N. Noyce, the co-founder of Intel Corporation. He was also renowned for his 1959 invention of the integrated circuit. The medal is funded by Intel Corporation and was first awarded in 2000.
The IEEE Eric E. Sumner Award is a Technical Field Award of the IEEE. It was established by the IEEE board of directors in 1995. It may be presented annually, to an individual or a team of not more than three people, for outstanding contributions to communications technology. It is named in honor of Eric E. Sumner, 1991 IEEE President.

In 2002, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) added a new award to its already existing program of awards. Each year, one or more nominees are honored with a medal in the name of Jun-ichi Nishizawa, considered to be the father of Japanese microelectronics. Nishizawa was professor, director of two research institutes and the 17th president at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, and contributed important innovations in the fields of optical communications and semiconductor devices, such as laser and PIN diodes and static induction thyristors for electric power applications.

He was named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2012 "for contributions to modeling and design of nanoscale integrated circuit interconnects." One of Banerjee's notable doctoral student is Deblina Sarkar, who later joined the faculty of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The journal Nature Nanotechnology recognised their paper on tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET)-based biosensor published in Applied Physics Letters in as one of the highlight papers in 2012.

Carlos A. Coello Coello is a Mexican computer scientist, Professor at the UNSW School of Engineering and Information Technology, and researcher at the CINVESTAV. His paper "Evolutionary algorithms for solving multi-objective problems" has been cited over 7,800 times. He won the IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award in 2013.
