ITU School of Mechanical Engineering which is located in Gümüşsuyu campus in Istanbul has two departments:

Istanbul Metropolitan municipality in Marmara, Turkey

Doğuş University

Doğuş University, is a foundation university located Acıbadem, Kadıköy, İstanbul. It stands on the lower side of Acıbadem Hill.

In 1926, the “Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering” was founded as part of the Science Faculty of Istanbul University. In 1934, the institute was bounded to “Yüksek Mühendis Mektebi”, today’s Istanbul Technical University, as the Electro-Mechanic Division, which was the start of Department of Electrical Engineering. The first students of this division graduated in 1936. Today, the faculty has three departments: Power engineering, Electronics and telecommunications engineering, Control engineering

ITU School of Civil Engineering is the first faculty of Istanbul Technical University. Its foundation date is considered as the starting of the engineering education in Ottoman Empire. Faculty has three divisions.

The ITU School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering was founded as an individual department in School of Mechanical Engineering in 1943. It was reorganized in 1971 as a separate school. Faculty has its own library in addition to Mustafa Inan Library.

The ITU Mustafa Inan Library was a printing house was established in 1795 at the first engineering school ever to be opened in Halıcıoğlu under the name of Mühendishane-i Berri Hümayun. The books published here constituted the core of the ITU Library. ITU libraries, located in Maslak campus, Istanbul, have approximately 500,000 volumes of books periodicals, and dissertations. The number of subscription periodicals is 1,300. A part of the library is open 7 day/24 hours. There are libraries in other campuses of ITU: Ratip Berker Library in School of Mechanical engineering, Macka library, Taskisla library and Tuzla library. In addition to these general purpose libraries there is a music library in Macka campus for Turkish Music State Conservatory.

ITU School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, founded in 1983, is the 11th school of Istanbul Technical University. Three departments were engaged to the faculty, which are Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical engineering, and Meteorological Engineering. Aeronautical Engineering Department was established as a branch training aeronautical engineers in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in 1941, and then in 1944 became a department of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. Meteorological Engineering Department was established in 1953 in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It is the only Meteorological Engineering department in Turkey.

ITU School of Textile Technologies and Design is one of the ITU schools in Gumussuyu campus. It is the first and the single one offering textile engineering education in Istanbul, and also comes first among the top textile engineering schools in Turkey. Its history could be traced back to 1955. There are three undergraduate programs under Textile Engineering Department:

ITU School of Mines, located in Maslak campus, is one of the faculties in Istanbul Technical University, which has five departments. As of 2013, the dean is Prof. Dr. Fatma Arslan. Among the notable faculty of the ITU School of Mines are Galip Sağıroğlu, İhsan Ketin, Aykut Barka, Celal Şengör and Kazım Ergin.

ITU Maritime Faculty is a faculty of the Istanbul Technical University in Turkey, which is dedicated to maritime science and technology.

Istanbul Kültür University university in Istanbul, Turkey

İstanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) is one of the many private universities located in Istanbul, Turkey. It has a total of three campuses all within close proximity to each other in the western part of Istanbul. The campuses include the Ataköy and İncirli campus in Bakırköy, and the Şirinevler campus in Bahçelievler. The University was founded in 1997 and has five schools and two vocational schools. In 2009, Global Political Trends Center, a policy oriented research institution, was founded under the auspices of the University.

Halil Guven is a Cypriot-born professor and the rector of Istanbul Bilgi University appointed in the academic year of 2009-2010. He received his B.S. degree from Boğaziçi University, his M.S. degree from Mississippi State University on Fulbright Scholarship (1981), and his Ph.D. degree from University of Houston, in mechanical engineering(1983). Alongside his 20+ articles in energy systems in peer-reviewed journals, Prof. Güven has edited books and published book chapters on globalization, leadership, clash of civilizations and education. Prof. Güven took part in Harvard Graduate School of Education's “Harvard Seminar for New University Presidents” in 2000, and speaks Turkish, English, and moderate Spanish and Greek.

Istanbul Technical University Control and Automation Student Society organization

The Control and Automation Student Society is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political student society established in 2004, formed by ITU, mostly from Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students. It has more than 600 members in both Electrical and Electronics Faculty as well as Astronautics and Aeronautics Faculty, Science and Letters Faculty and others.

Mehmet Karaca is the rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He was born in Istanbul on 17 September 1957. He is a member of the Department of Geology and the Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences at İstanbul Technical University. He is also head of Climate and Marine Sciences Group at Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences. Following his graduation from Pertevniyal High School in Istanbul, He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees at the Department of Meteorology in the Faculty of Basic Sciences at ITU, in 1979 and 1981 respectively. He earned another M.S. degree at Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned a Ph.D. degree at Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1990.

Muhammed Şahin is a Turkish academic. He is the former rector) of Istanbul Technical University (2008-2012), and the founding rector of MEF University.
