Uttara Kannada is a district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Uttara Kannada District is a major coastal district of Karnataka, with the largest coastal district. It is bordered by the state of Goa and Belagavi District to the north, Dharwad District and Haveri District to the east, Shivamogga District, and Udupi District to the south, and the Arabian Sea to the west.

The Shirali Maha Ganapathi Mahammaya Temple is the Kuladevata Temple of the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. The temple deity is a Kuladev of the Kamaths, Bhats, Puraniks, Prabhus, Joishys, Mallyas, Kudvas and Nayak families from the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. The temple is located at Shirali in the Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka state. It is a five-minute drive from either Bhatkal or Murdeshwar. The Temple was built about 400 years ago. It was renovated in 1904.

Sri Idagunji Mahaganapati Yakshagana Mandali, Keremane (R)(Kannada: ಇಡಗುಂಜಿ ಮಹಾಗಣಪತಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಮಂಡಳಿ)or simply the Keremane Yakshagana Troupe is a Yakshagana troupe based in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India. It was started by Keremane Shivarama Hegde in 1934. He is an exponent of this art form and is the first Yakshagana artist to win the Rashtrapati Award, an award handed out by the President of India to people who excel in various fields. The troupe has survived three generations, with his children Shambu Hegde, Mahabala Hegde and Gajanana Hegde and his grand son Shivananda Hegde also being exponents of Yakshagana. Keremane Shivananda Hegde is the current director of the troupe and the institution.
Keremane Shivarama Hegde (1938-2009) is an exponent of Yakshagana, a dance form mostly performed in the state of Karnataka, India. He is the founder of the troupe, Idagunji Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali which has given performances all over India and abroad. He is the first Yakshagana artist to receive the Rashtrapati Award. He was given the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 1970.
