The Hyderabad Inner Ring Road is a 50 kilometer city arterial road in Hyderabad , Telangana. [1] It was built to decongest city roads and give way for trucks and other commercial vehicles.

History

HIRR's master plan called as Intelligent Transport System was done by Nippon Koei india private Limited of Japan. The project which includes the Outer Ring Road, Hyderabad, has been implemented with assistance from Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and its construction has finished in 2008. [2]

The road passes through Mehdipatnam including Masab Tank, Banjara Hills, NH 65 via Punjagutta, NH 44 via Begumpet, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Habsiguda, Uppal, NH163 via Bhuvanagiri road, Nagole, L. B. Nagar, karmanghat, champapet, Santoshnagar crossroads, NH 765 via Chandrayangutta, Kurnool highway, Rajendranagar bypass road, via SH 2 Attapur, RethBowli. [3] The road joins the P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway at Aramgarh. [4]

The Hyderabad Outer Ring Road, officially known as Nehru Outer Ring Road and abbreviated as, H.O.R.R., is a 158-kilometre (98 mi), eight-lane ring road expressway encircling Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Telangana. The expressway was designed for speeds up to 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph), later increased to 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph). A large part, 124 kilometres (77 mi) of the 158 kilometres (98 mi) was opened by December 2012.

Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. In July 2023, the total length of expressways in India was 5,930 km (3,680 mi), with 11,127.69 km (6,914.43 mi) under construction. These are controlled-access highways where entrance and exits are controlled by the use of cloverleaf, three-way, trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120 km/h, whereas National highways are flyover access or tolled, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highway with road, flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/h. Some roads are not access-controlled expressways but are still named expressways, such as the Bagodara–Tarapur Expressway, Biju Expressway, these are actually state highways that are not declared by the central government as an Expressway, hence not an Expressway or National Highway.

The Electronic City Elevated Expressway is a 9.985 km (6.204 mi) long elevated highway from Silk Board junction to Electronic City in Bangalore, India. The project was part of the BETL, project as part of the National Highways Development Project and the Elevated Highways Project. It was initiated in early 2006, and was inaugurated on 22 January 2010. Operating at a height of 17 m (56 ft), it was Bangalore's tallest flyover at the time of its opening.

P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway is an 11.6 km long elevated road connecting the Hyderabad International Airport with Mehdipatnam. Chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for the project. It was opened to the traffic at the end points on 19 October 2009. The entry for cyclists, two and three-wheelers, three and four-wheeled seven seater and goods vehicles is prohibited.

The Hyderabad Regional Ring Road is a proposed ring road around the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is a 4 lane, 340-kilometre-long (210 mi) road, planned on strengthening the existing road network and by adding new stretches wherever linkages were found missing. National Highways Authority of India has included Regional Ring road in the pan-India Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-2. It helps connect the districts around city of Hyderabad. It helps in linking major national highways like NH 65, NH 44, NH 163, NH 765.

Pune Ring Road or Pune inner ring road is one of the three ring roads planned for construction in and around the city of Pune, India. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority claimed that the road will decrease traffic congestion and provide better access to the fastest growing areas. The road will be 173 km long and will service twenty-nine villages by connecting all highways around the city. The cost is estimated at 104.08 billion (US$1.2 billion). The other two ring roads are MSRDC ring road and High-capacity mass transit route.

Inter City Bus Terminal (ICBT) is an upcoming bus terminus at Miyapur area of the Indian city of Hyderabad. It is owned by the HMDA and operated under a public–private partnership. The terminal once completed, would be one of the largest in Asia. The buses belonging to TSRTC will operate here. It will be one of the largest bus stations in India, with 200 bus bays. The project was cancelled in June 2018

National Highway 230, also known as Kisan Path or Lucknow Outer Ring Road is National Highway in Uttar Pradesh, India which also includes sections of Lucknow Inner Ring Road. The Lucknow outer ring road is an 8 lane that expand to 10 lanes at key junctions and 104 km long quadruple carriageway road project with a speed limit of 100kmph for Light Vehicles and 80kmph for Heavy vehicles. The 6 lane 11 km long stretch between Kursi Road to Sultanpur road has been constructed by the NHAI. This Ring Road has multiple 6 lane flyovers for smooth and swift commuting of the travellers. This Outer Ring Road will play a major role in the establishment of the Lucknow State Capital Region or the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region as many IT cities, Housing Societies, Integrated Mega-Townships, Wellness City, Educational Hubs, and Commercial Hubs etc. across Multiple 1000's of acres of land are proposed to be established around this Ring Road. It is set to offload nearly 1.60 lakh vehicles off the main roads of the city of Lucknow as of now.

The Outer Ring Road is a 119 km under construction ring road around the city of Nagpur, in Maharashtra. A part of the road is between NH 44 and NH 56 towards east of the city of 62 km length is already operational. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued work orders for execution of remaining stretch of 61 km. The value of work orders is Rs 1,170 crore making it the biggest ongoing road project in and around the city. After Pardi flyover, it would be second to be executed since city MP Nitin Gadkari became union minister for road transport and highways under which NHAI is functioning.

Transport in Visakhapatnam is the network of roads, railways, rapid transit system in the largest city of Andhra Pradesh. The city of Visakhapatnam also serves as the central hub of transport and logistics on the East coast of India and hence it is called as City Of Destiny.

The Outer Ring Road is a proposed 140 kilometer, 6-lane ring road expressway encircling the capital city of Patna, Bihar, India.
