He played a total of 67 Tests and took 266 wickets. He also captained the national side in 22 Test matches. Bedi wore a colourful patka and was always known for his outspoken and forthright views on cricketing matters. He was awarded the Padma Shri award in 1970 and the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.

The Australian national cricket team toured South Africa from January to March 1970, and played a four-match Test series against the South African national cricket team. South Africa won the Test series 4–0. Australia were captained by Bill Lawry and South Africa by Ali Bacher.

The New Zealand national cricket team toured India in 1969–70 season. The two teams played three Tests. Test series drawn 1-1. When India were bowled out for 89 runs on the last day of the third Test, the crowd reacted by throwing stones at the police and starting fires within the ground.

Shreyas Santosh Iyer is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team as a right-handed batter. He has played in all formats for the Indian team. Iyer scored a century in his debut test match and a half-century in the second innings against New Zealand in November 2021 and became the first Indian player to do so. Iyer plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and captains Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He played for the India Under-19 cricket team at the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was named in the India Squad for 2023 Cricket World Cup.

The Manipur cricket team is a cricket team that represents the state of Manipur in Indian domestic competitions. In July 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the team as one of the nine new sides that would compete in domestic tournaments for the 2018–19 season, including the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Ahead of the 2018–19 season, Shiv Sunder Das was appointed as the team's coach.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lanka Premier League</span> Sri Lankan cricket tournament

The Lanka Premier League is a professional franchise cricket league established in 2020 in Sri Lanka. Matches are played using the Twenty20 cricket format by five teams named after Sri Lankan cities. The league was intended to commence in 2018, but repeatedly postponed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The inaugural edition took place in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
