Island Cricket is a sports website that contains news, photos, videos, blogs, columns and interviews relating to the Sri Lanka cricket team. [1]

Established in 2008, it is one of the oldest cricket websites and the most-popular Sri Lankan cricket website.

Certain sections of the website contain fan-submitted content, where fans of the Sri Lanka cricket team can create a free account and submit news articles, photos and videos.

The website has become an important part of Sri Lanka's media landscape, with its independent and unbiased news reporting and widely read editorials. Renowned cricket writer and historian Gideon Haigh has referred to Island Cricket as an "indispensable source" for Sri Lanka cricket news. [2]

The website was adjudged the Best Sports and Entertainment Website in Sri Lanka and has also won the Bronze Award for ‘Best Sri Lankan Website’. [3] [4] [5]

In 2010, Island Cricket won The Best Entertainment Website award at the Best Web - Sri Lanka web awards. [6] [7]

The website won the award for Best Sports and Entertainment Website in Sri Lanka for 2014, which was the second-consecutive year the website has received the award at Sri Lanka's only web awards. [8]

Dinesh Subasinghe is a Sri Lankan composer, violinist, and music producer. The Trinity–Antonian Cricket Encounter is the leading annual school cricket match of the hill country which is played between Trinity College, Kandy and St. Anthony's College, Kandy since 1914. It is considered to be one of the oldest annual school cricket encounters in Sri Lanka. This encounter is being played for the John Halangoda Memorial Trophy and is awarded to the team who manages to win the match by means of an outright win or failing that, a first innings win. But a first innings win will not go into the records as a win to the relevant team.

Chandani Seneviratne, popularly as Chandani Seneviratne is a Sri Lankan actress, of all three performing arts in cinema, theatre and television. One of the most distinguished artists in Sinhala cinema, Seneviratne has received critical acclaim and awards at every award festival in Sri Lanka for several dramatic roles.
