Itmaharela is a genus of moths of the family Noctuidae.

This is a replacement name by Nye (1975) for the preoccupied genus Harmatelia (Moore). Lödl & Paumkirchner transferred this genus to Hypeninae in 2001. [2]

At present, there is only one species in this genus: Itmaharela basalisMoore, 1882 that is known from India [3] and Taiwan. [4]

The family includes the underwings (Catocala); litter moths (Herminiinae); tiger, lichen, and wasp moths (Arctiinae); tussock moths (Lymantriinae), including the arctic woolly bear moth ; piercing moths ; micronoctuoid moths (Micronoctuini); snout moths (Hypeninae); and zales, though many of these common names can also refer to moths outside the Erebidae.
