Etymology

The generic name, Ivovicia, refers to the Ivovik Creek, which is located near the type locality of I. rugulosa. The specific name, rugulosa, is from Latin rugulosus, meaning 'finely wrinkled'. [2] Therefore, the scientific name Iovicia rugulosa can roughly be translated as 'finely wrinkled of Ivovik Creek'.
