Jason Bowld is a British drummer currently playing with the heavy metal band Bullet for My Valentine, [2] and formerly of Pitchshifter, This Is Menace and AxeWound. [1]
Bowld started playing drums at age 13, originally being inspired by a school friend. [3] Nine years later his band Stimulator got a record deal with Geffen. [3] In 2000, he joined industrial metal band Pitchshifter, [4] playing on their sixth album PSI (2002) and continuing with them until they entered a hiatus in 2010. When Pitchshifter was reactivated in 2016, he was replaced by Simon Hutchby due to his commitment to Bullet for My Valentine. [5] [6]
In late 2003, he joined BLAZE, the solo band of former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley, [7] playing on Blood & Belief (2004) before being replaced in 2005 by future Helloween drummer Daniel Loble. [8] Also in 2004 he was a member of Scottish band Hiding Place. [9]
In late 2004, Bowld and Pitchshifter bassist Mark Clayden founded a metalcore project called This Is Menace, [10] this project did not have a permanent vocalist and instead had guests Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke), Barney Greenway (Napalm Death), Mikee Goodman and Justin Hill (Sikth), Jeff Walker (Carcass) and Matt Davies (Funeral For A Friend). [11] This group released their debut album, No End In Sight in April 2004 [12] on PSI records, [13] and their second, The Scene Is Dead in 2007. [14]
In 2010, he joined industrial rock band Pop Will Eat Itself, playing on their albums New Noise Designed by a Sadist (2011) [15] and Anti-Nasty League (2015) before being replaced by original drummer Fuzz Townshend in 2016. [16] In 2011 he played on comedian Bill Bailey's album In Metal as well joining him at Sonisphere 2011 in Knebworth. [17] [18]
In 2012, he co-founded supergroup AxeWound alongside lead vocalist Liam Cormier (Cancer Bats), guitarist and co-vocalist Matthew Tuck (Bullet for My Valentine), guitarist Mike Kingswood of (Glamour of the Kill) and bassist Joe Copcutt of (Zoax and Rise to Remain). [19]
In 2014, he played on Mable, an album by Wildhearts guitarist, C. J. Wildheart, he has since played on all for his singles and albums. [20]
He first played with Bullet for My Valentine in 2015 when original drummer Michael Thomas was unable to play due to his wife's pregnancy. [21] [22] He was confirmed a fulltime member in December 2017, officially replacing Thomas. [23]
In 2021 he cofounded Shadow Addict, an electronic metal band alongside vocalist Jamie Mathas (Bullet for My Valentine), guitarist Jim Davies (The Prodigy, Pitchshifter) and sythesist and bassist Nick Kingsley (Tut Tut Child, Forest Knot). [24] [25]
In 2008, Bowld formed They Fell from the Sky with Colin Doran of Hundred Reasons and recorded a series of demos before disbanding. The band regrouped in 2020 and released their first album 'Decade' in 2021. [26] [27]
Pitchshifter are an English industrial rock band from Nottingham, formed in 1989. The band was started by lead guitarist and programmer Johnny A. Carter, and bassist and vocalist Mark Clayden. The band's early material was characterized for its gritty industrial metal sound with downtuned guitars and the use of drum machines, and has been cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh. With later albums the group's music became increasingly more melodic and strongly influenced by nu metal and drum and bass; particularly evident of their 1998 release www.pitchshifter.com, which has been compared with groups like The Prodigy.
PSI is the sixth studio album by the industrial rock band Pitchshifter, released in 2002. Their previous two albums had been released on a major label, but this was released by the minor Mayan Records, a subsidiary label owned by Sanctuary Records. The band is currently composed of Matthew Tuck, Michael Paget, Jason Bowld (drums) and Jamie Mathias (bass). Former members include Michael Thomas, Jason James and Nick Crandle; the latter were on bass. They were formed under the name Jeff Killed John and started their music career by covering songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Jeff Killed John recorded six songs which were not released; two of these tracks were reworked later in their career as Bullet for My Valentine. A change of style from that of Jeff Killed John led the band to change their name. In 2002, the band secured a five-album deal with Sony BMG. The band has stated that their music is influenced by classic metal acts such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Slayer. The band is part of the Cardiff music scene.
The Poison is the debut studio album by Welsh heavy metal band Bullet for My Valentine. The album was released on 3 October 2005 through Visible Noise Records in the UK, and on 14 February 2006 in the United States, through Trustkill Records. The album included 11 new songs and two previously heard songs, "Cries in Vain", which was previously heard from the band's self-titled UK EP and from their US EP, Hand of Blood, as well as from "4 Words " was previously included on the same US release. Different editions of the album contain the song "Hand of Blood", previously heard from these EPs, replacing "Spit You Out".

Sadist is an Italian death metal band formed in Genoa, Italy, in January 1991. It debuted with Black Screams in 1991, then released three albums. Matthew Tuck is a Welsh musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the heavy metal band Bullet for My Valentine. He is also a guitarist and singer in the supergroup AxeWound, which was formed in 2012.
