The politics of Zimbabwe occurs in a society deeply divided along lines of race, ethnicity, gender and geography. The ZANU–PF party has historically been dominant in Zimbabwe politics. The party, which was led by Robert Mugabe from 1980 to 2017, has used the powers of the state to intimidate, imprison and otherwise hobble political opposition in Zimbabwe, as well as use state funds and state media to advance the interests of the party.
Joice Runaida Mujuru, also known by her nom-de-guerre Teurai Ropa Nhongo, is a Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician who served as Vice-President of Zimbabwe from 2004 to 2014. Previously she had served as a government minister. She also served as Vice-President of ZANU–PF. She was married to Solomon Mujuru until his death in 2011 and was long considered a potential successor to President Robert Mugabe, but in 2014 she was denounced for allegedly plotting against Mugabe. As a result of the accusations against her, Mujuru lost both her post as Vice-President and her position in the party leadership. She was expelled from the party a few months later, after which she formed the new Zimbabwe People First party.
Katalin Szili is a Hungarian politician and jurist, a former Member of the National Assembly, who served as Speaker of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2009.
Paurina Gwanyanya Mpariwa, sometimes written as Paurine Mpariwa, is a member of the Pan-African Parliament from Zimbabwe. Mpariwa is the chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
Welshman Ncube is a Zimbabwean lawyer, businessman and politician. He is the founding MDC leader and former President of Zimbabwean political party Movement for Democratic Change – Ncube. He currently serves within the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC). He is a practicing lawyer in the firm Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers, where he is the senior partner at their Bulawayo offices. He also runs a number of business ventures, including a farm in the Midlands Province.
Lulama "Lulu" Marytheresa Xingwana is a South African politician who served as Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities from November 2010 to May 2014. Previously she held the position of Deputy Minister of Minerals and Energy from 2004 to 2006 and was Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs from 2006 to 2009, succeeding Thoko Didiza.
Thokozani Khupe is a Zimbabwean politician, trade unionist and the President of the MDC-T breakaway faction of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). She was Deputy Prime Minister 2009–13.
David Coltart is a Zimbabwean lawyer, Christian leader and politician. He was a founding member of the Movement for Democratic Change when it was established in 1999 and its founding secretary for legal affairs. He was the Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South in the House of Assembly from 2000 to 2008, and he was elected to the Senate in 2008. He was the Minister for Education, Sport, Arts and Culture from February 2009 until August 2013. He is a top official of the Citizens Coalition for Change political party which was formed in 2022.
The Council of Ministers is a proposed body of Zimbabwean government ministers. It was conceptualized as a separate body from the Cabinet according to the agreement reached at the conclusion of negotiations between presidential rivals Morgan Tsvangirai and Robert Mugabe. It will be instituted by the next constitution of Zimbabwe.
Inese Lībiņa-Egnere is a Latvian politician representing the Unity party. She was a member and Deputy Speaker of the 11th Saeima. She was the Deputy Speaker and the Chairperson of the National Security Committee of the 12th Saeima. In 2022, Lībiņa-Egnere was elected in the 14th Saeima. Currently she is the Latvian Minister of Justice.
Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki is a Tanzanian CCM politician and cabinet Minister. On 1 September 2023, she began her post as the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania.
Andries Carl Nel is the Deputy Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the Republic of South Africa. He was the Deputy Minister for Constitutional Development from May 2009 until 9 July 2013 and has been a member of Parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) since 1994.
Anna Ebaju Adeke is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. Currently she serves as the Member of Parliament representing Women in Soroti District in the 11th Parliament (2021–2026). She previously served as the parliamentary representative of the National Female Youth Constituency in the 10th parliament (2016–2021). She serves as the Deputy President for Forum for Democratic Change in Eastern Region.
Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga is a Zimbabwean businesswoman and politician. She was the Minister of State in the Office of Second Vice-President of Zimbabwe Phelekezela Mphoko from 2015 to 2018. Previously, she served as Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture from 2013 to 2015. She was the Member of Parliament for Mazowe Central from 2013 to 2018. She is a member of ZANU–PF, and previously held leadership roles in the party's youth and women's leagues.
Kwati Candith Mashego-Dlamini is a South African politician from Mpumalanga. She has been the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since May 2019, and she formerly served as Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform from 2014 to 2019.
Linda Tsungirirai Masarira is a Zimbabwean politician who served as a spokesperson for one of the smaller faction of the opposition parties in Zimbabwe, MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.
Tamar Chugoshvili is a Georgian politician, who has served as the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia from November 2016 to November 2019. She was the Foreign Secretary and the Member of the Political Council of the Party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia”.
Vusumuzi Cyril Xaba is a South African politician and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. He is currently serving as Co-Chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee on Defence and as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans. A member of the African National Congress, he previously served in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1994 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2019. He was the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2014 to 2016.
Claudia Nonhlanhla Ndaba is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, she has served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and People with Disabilities since 2019 and has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2014. She served as Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Filling of Vacancies in the Commission for Gender Equality twice during her first term in parliament. Prior to her election to parliament, Ndaba served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014.
Tandi Mahambehlala is a South African politician who has served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism since 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC), she served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation from 2019 to 2021. Mahambehlala was Deputy Minister of Communications between 2017 and 2018. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
