James Edwin Scherr (born July 27, 1961) is a former American wrestler and former U.S. Olympic Committee CEO. [1] He placed in three world wrestling championships taking bronze at 90kg at the 1986 World Wrestling Championships, followed by a silver medal at the 1987 World Championship. He then competed in the men's freestyle 90 kg at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [2] He repeated as silver medalist at 90kg at the 1989 World Championships. His twin brother Bill Scherr was also an Olympian. [2]

Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. A total of 110 Egyptian athletes participated in 83 events across 20 sports, with more women taking part than ever before. He also captured a silver medal in the 66 kg class at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, losing out to Greece's Ilias Iliadis.
