The 1904 Summer Olympics were an international multi-sport event held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from 29 August to 3 September 1904, as part of an extended sports program lasting from 1 July to 23 November 1904, located at what is now known as Francis Olympic Field on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. The 1904 Summer Olympics were the first time the Olympic Games were held outside Europe.

Pål Bjarne Tyldum is a retired cross-country skier from Norway. Specializing in the longer distances, he won a gold medal in the 50 km event at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, he won a gold medal in the 4 × 10 km relay. Additionally, he won three Olympic silver medals and seven national cross-country championships. His best result at the world championships was fourth place in the 30 km and 4 × 10 km relay in 1970.

Kyösti Eemil "Köpi" Lehtonen was a lightweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland. He competed at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1956, placing fifth in 1960. Previously he won two silver medals at the world championships in 1953 and 1955. Domestically he won nine Finnish titles in 1952–57 and 1960–62. Lehtonen retired after the 1964 Olympics and coached the Norwegian (1964), Danish (1964) and Finnish national teams (1971–74). Later he was elected as a board member of the Finnish Wrestling Federation.
