Jonas Eriksson (born 28 March 1974) is a Swedish former football referee. He was a full international referee for FIFA between 2002 and 2018. [1]

Career

Eriksson became a professional referee in 1994 and has been an Allsvenskan referee since 2000. He has refereed 263 matches in Allsvenskan, 47 matches in Superettan and 112 international matches as of 2014. [1]

In August 2013, Eriksson was chosen to referee 2013 UEFA Super Cup between Chelsea and Bayern Munich. [2] He was called by FIFA to officiate in Brazil's 2014 FIFA World Cup. His first match in the World Cup was between the United States and Ghana. [3] He was the fourth official at the 2015 UEFA Champions League final match of Juventus vs. Barcelona at Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany on 6 June 2015. [4]

On 18 May 2016, he refereed the UEFA Europa League final between Liverpool and Sevilla. [5]

On 30 May 2018, it was announced he would end his career as a referee. [6]

Business career

Jonas Eriksson was formerly sales director and partner in a company named IEC Sports. The company bought and sold TV Rights. Eriksson and the other owners lated sold the company, and Eriksson then became a multi-millionare. [7]

Personal life

Eriksson resides in Sigtuna, with his wife and two daughters.

The 2013 UEFA Super Cup was the 38th UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organised by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. In a repeat of the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final, the match featured Bayern Munich, the winners of the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League, and Chelsea, the winners of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. Having beaten Bayern in the 2012 Champions League Final, it was Chelsea's second consecutive appearance in the Super Cup. It was played at the Fortuna Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, on 30 August 2013, and was the first to be held away from the Stade Louis II in Monaco since it became a one-legged match in 1998.

The 2013 season was the 116th season of competitive football in Sweden. The competitive year started with the group stage of Svenska Cupen on 2 March. League competition started in early April with Allsvenskan on 31 March, Superettan on 6 April, Division 1 and lower men's leagues plus the Damallsvenskan on 13 April. Svenska Cupen ended with the final played at the national stadium Friends Arena on 26 May. Allsvenskan ended on 3 November, Superettan one day earlier on 2 November, Division 1 and lower men's leagues on 26 October and Damallsvenskan on 20 October. Qualification play-offs were held after the end of league play with the Allsvenskan play-offs being held on 7 and 10 November and the Superettan play-offs being held on 6 and 9 November. Svenska Supercupen was held on 10 November and was contested by the winner of Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen. Sweden participated in qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Sweden also hosted UEFA Women's Euro 2013 between 10 and 28 July.
