Jorgina Alexandra Porter (born 25 December 1987) [1] is an English actress and model. She is known for portraying the role of Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2008 until 2016 and again from 2020.

Early life

Jorgina Alexandra Porter was born on 25 December 1987 in Trafford, Greater Manchester. [2] She grew up with her mother and grandmother. [2] A former ballet dancer, she was told by the ballet school she attended that she was overweight for a dancer. She later attended The Hammond School in Chester. [2]

Career

In November 2008, it was announced that Porter had joined the cast of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks , playing the role of Theresa McQueen. Porter said that she was "thrilled" to join the cast and be a part of one of soap opera's "most notorious families". [3] In 2010, Porter appeared with eight other soap opera actresses in a music video and cover of the Cyndi Lauper single "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". The song was released in aid of charity, Cancer Research UK's campaign "Race for Life". [4]

Porter appeared in the November 2010 issue of Sugar magazine . [5] In FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2011, Porter was ranked 50th. [6] In August 2011, Porter took part in the ITV dance show Born to Shine . She learned to street dance on the show, but failed to make it to the final. [7]

In 2012, Porter was confirmed to be a contestant and participant on the seventh series of Dancing on Ice . [8] Porter was paired dancing with American pairs skater Matt Evers. [9] Porter made it to the final and finished in second place behind Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden. [10]

In 2013, Porter decided to leave Hollyoaks. In October that year, she said she was leaving the show at the end of her contract. [11] After finishing filming on the show she appeared on the final series of Dancing On Ice in January 2014, which featured returning contestant 'All Stars' from past series. Porter and her skating partner Sylvain Longchambon were the first contestants to be voted off the series. [12] In April, it was announced that Porter had agreed to return to Hollyoaks. [13]

In 2014, she released her own calendar for 2015, showing some of her modelling shoots and photos. She has also released another calendar for 2016. [14] Porter is the presenter for the Nintendo Girls Club. [15] In July 2015, Porter announced that she was leaving Hollyoaks once again. [16] Her final scenes as the character aired on 11 March 2016. [17] In November 2015, Porter took part in the fifteenth series of ITV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! . She came 5th on the show. [18]

In 2016, Porter was cast as Miss Croft in a reboot episode of the series Are You Being Served? . She also became the new face of the UK advertising campaign for the skincare brand Proactiv. [19] In 2017, she appeared as a contestant in Celebs Go Dating.

Modelling

As an actress and model, Jorgie was chosen as the face of major international skincare brand Proactiv+ and was an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust's annual sun safety campaign. [20] [21] She appeared in the November 2010 issue of Sugar magazine. [22] Along with then co-stars Rachel Shenton and James Atherton, they appeared on the cover of First Car Magazine, a magazine aimed at young drivers, in November 2011. [23] She has also in men's magazine Loaded in 2009 [24] [25] and as the cover girl in 2011, [26]

Porter celebrated being voted Hottest Female Soap Star by the readers of FHM UK Magazine in 2012 by appearing on the cover of the September issue of the magazine. [27] [28] She appeared topless (covered) with then co-star and boyfriend James Atherton in the September 2012 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in support of a Breast Cancer. [29] [30]

Personal life

Porter is engaged to Oliver Piotrowski. In November 2021, she revealed that she had miscarried the couple's quadruplets. [31] [32] In June 2022, Porter announced her second pregnancy. [33] In November 2022, she gave birth to a son.

In May 2024 Porter announced that she is expecting her second child, in September 2024 it was revealed the baby would be a girl. In December 2024 it was announced that baby girl had arrived and the family was 'complete'

Hollyoaks is a British soap opera which originally began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera Brookside. From 2005 to 2023, episodes have aired on sister channel E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4. In 2023, Hollyoaks was removed from Channel 4's early evening schedule, but remains on E4 and Channel 4's on demand service with episodes now uploaded to YouTube. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but it has since broadened its appeal to all age groups. Hollyoaks has covered various taboo subjects rarely seen on British television, for which it has received numerous awards. It has won the award for Best British Soap twice, in 2014 and 2019; its first win broke the 15-year tie between rival soap operas EastEnders and Coronation Street. Beginning with a cast of 15 characters, it now has 37 regular cast members. The longest-serving actor is Nick Pickard, who has portrayed Tony Hutchinson since the first episode.

Calvin Valentine is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Ricky Whittle. He arrived in July 2006 as a police officer with his mother Diane Valentine, his brother Sonny Valentine and his sister Sasha Valentine and made his final appearance on 21 May 2010 after he was murdered by Theresa McQueen. Whittle was credited for a flashback episode on 1 December 2010. Calvin appeared again as a ghost to tell his wife and Theresa's Cousin Carmel McQueen that his and Theresa's daughter, Kathleen-Angel McQueen, was fine with Theresa in February 2011.

Jacqui McQueen is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Claire Cooper. She debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 26 September 2006 and was introduced by series producer Bryan Kirkwood as part of the McQueen family. Cooper has stated that whilst Lucy Allan produced the serial she was not used and that Jacqui had "lost her identity". In 2010 when Paul Marquess took over the role, he recognised she was an under used character and split her apart from the McQueen family, subsequently increasing her role within the show. Jacqui has been portrayed as a "tough ex-con" and is extremely feisty, she often takes on the matriarch role within the McQueens.

During her first five years on the show, Porter was featured in numerous high-profile storylines, including: underage sex; the murder of Calvin Valentine ; teenage pregnancy; being the target of serial killer Silas Blissett ; falling down a lift shaft; discovering her boyfriend, Ethan Scott was dating two other women and forming a friendship with the girls; finding her long-lost father; relationships with Dodger Savage, Will Savage and Joel Dexter ; and her arrest for Calvin's murder. Porter announced her departure from the soap in October 2013 so she could focus on Dancing on Ice. Her exit scenes aired on 9 January 2014.

Anne "Mitzeee" Minniver is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Rachel Shenton. The character debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 23 July 2010. Mitzeee was created by series producer Paul Marquess for a different television series which was never commissioned and instead introduced his ideas onto Mitzeee. She is also one of the first characters created in Marquess's 2010 reinvention of Hollyoaks. Mitzeee is a wannabe glamour model and WAG, she is portrayed as being ruthless in achieving her goals and is fame driven. Shenton helped create her backstory and has stated on different occasions that Mitzeee uses femininity to get what she wants. Various media outlets drew comparisons to the character with pop star Cheryl Cole, and Mitzeee spells her career name with triple e's because she finds her name plain, a tag Shenton has also agreed with. On 20 December 2012, it was announced that Shenton had left the show and her final scenes aired on 15 February 2013.

Hollyoaks began airing on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on 23 October 1995. The show targeted teenagers and initially dramatised the lives of seven teenagers living in Hollyoaks, a fictional suburb in the city of Chester in Cheshire, England.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Liberty Savage</span> Fictional character from Hollyoaks

Liberty Savage is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by actress and singer-songwriter Abi Phillips from 2010 to 2013, and Jessamy Stoddart from 2018. She made her first on-screen appearance on 10 December 2010. Phillips was approached by Hollyoaks producers after she submitted one of her songs to be played on the show. Following a strong response to the song, producers invited her to audition for the role of Liberty, in which she was successful. Liberty was introduced to Hollyoaks along with her fiancé, Ethan Scott. After an absence of four months during 2013, it was announced that Liberty would be written out of the serial, and she departed on 24 July 2013. On 22 May 2018, it was announced that Liberty would return, but this time with Stoddart in the role, and she returned on 5 June 2018. Stoddart went on maternity leave in December 2022, with the character of Liberty set to return in 2024.

Silas Blissett is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Jeff Rawle. Rawle's casting was announced in December 2010 and it was revealed that he would portray a serial killer. Rawle was approached by Hollyoaks and met with series producer, Paul Marquess, who explained the role of Silas and his storyline. Rawle found the storyline something which he would like to "have a crack at". The actor said that the role of Silas is "very interesting" for him as he had not played a murderer in his career before. He made his first on-screen appearance in episode 2979, originally broadcast on 23 December 2010. However, Silas departed for the first time on 4 November 2011. Silas returned on 19 July 2012, as a guest stint. Silas returned again in 2016 as well as making two further returns in 2020 and 2022 with this being his last return as he was killed-off in a final showdown with the McQueens.

<i>Hollyoaks Later</i> series 4 Season of television series

The fourth series of Hollyoaks Later is a British television series and late night spin-off of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. The series aired in September 2011 at 10pm. The series revolved around Silas Blissett's search for another murder victim which culminated in the death of Rae Wilson, the stag do of Riley Costello, the hen party of Mercedes McQueen and Ricky Campbell and Duncan Button's trip to fat camp.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dodger Savage</span> UK soap opera character, created 2011

Mark "Dodger" Savage is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 serial drama, Hollyoaks, played by Danny Mac. He made his first on-screen appearance on 7 April 2011 and was introduced as part of the Savage family by creator Paul Marquess. Dodger is played as being a bit "cocky" and as thinking he has "got it all". For his portrayal, Mac has won and been nominated for various awards. In November 2014, Mac opted to leave the role and Dodger made his last appearance on 20 January 2015. Dodger is the biological son of Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) and Anna Blake, the twin brother of Sienna Blake, the adoptive son of Anna's husband Dirk Savage, the half-brother of Will Savage, Liberty Savage and Minnie Minniver and the father of Nico Blake and Myra-Pocahontas Savage-McQueen.
