Ghent is a city and a municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is the capital and largest city of the East Flanders province, and the third largest in the country, after Brussels and Antwerp. It is a port and university city.
Gentbrugge is a sub-municipality of the city of Ghent located in the province of East Flanders, Flemish Region, Belgium. It was a separate municipality until 1977. On 1 January 1977, it was merged into Ghent.

Koninklijke Football Club Rhodienne-De Hoek is a Belgian association football club based in Sint-Genesius-Rode, Flemish Brabant. The club was created in 1894 as Racing Football Club. It became a member of the Royal Belgian Football Association in 1895 as Racing Club de Bruxelles and later received the matricule n°6. It took part in the first Belgian league the same year and won 6 titles and 1 cup until the First World War.
Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent, often simply known as Gent or by their nickname De Buffalo's, is a Belgian professional sports club, based in the city of Ghent, East Flanders. Their football team is the best known section within the club and has been playing in the Belgian First Division A since the 1989–90 season. They won the national league once, in 2014–15, in addition to four Belgian Cup victories. Gent played their home matches in the Jules Ottenstadion in Gentbrugge from 1920 until 2013, when they moved to the Ghelamco Arena. Their team colours are blue and white. The Belgian Third Division A was one of the two leagues at the third level of the Belgian football league system, the other one being the Belgian Third Division B. This division existed from the 1952–53 to 2015–16 seasons and was played every year with 18 clubs from 2009. Prior to this, the third level in the Belgian football league system was called Promotion and was divided into four leagues of 16 clubs each and prior to the 1931–32 season, the Promotion was divided into three leagues. Due to restructuring, the Third Division was replaced by Belgian Second Amateur Division which plays as three leagues of 16 clubs each from the 2016–17 season.
K.R.C. Mechelen is a Belgian association football club from Mechelen in the Antwerp province. It is a long-time rival of KV Mechelen. The club's best position ever is a second place in the first division 1951–52. KRC Mechelen also reached the final of the Belgian Cup in 1954. However, the team has been falling through the Belgian football league system since 2015 and in the 2017–18 season it will be playing in the Belgian Provincial Leagues for the first time since 1906.
K. Tubantia Borgerhout V.K. is a Belgian association football club from the town of Borgerhout in the municipality of Antwerp. It was given the matricule n°64 by the Belgian Football Association and it now plays in the highest regional league of the Antwerp province. The club is known to have sold the skillful attacker Joseph Mermans to R.S.C. Anderlecht during World War II for a record fee of 125,000 Belgian francs.

The 1929–30 season was the 30th season of competitive football in Belgium. The Belgium national football team were one of the 4 European nations to enter the first FIFA World Cup, organized in Uruguay. They were drawn in group 4 with United States and Paraguay but lost both of their matches. RCS Brugeois won their third Premier Division title by finishing one point ahead of title contender R Antwerp FC.
The 1954–55 season was the 52nd season of competitive football in Belgium. RSC Anderlechtois won their 6th Division I title and thus became the first Belgian club to enter European competitions as the European Champion Clubs' Cup was first played in 1955-56. The Belgium national football team played 6 friendly games. The first Belgian Golden Shoe was awarded in 1955 for the best Belgian played during the 1954 year. Henri Coppens of R Beerschot AC won the trophy.
