So to avoid interference, at night KDXU uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array. The transmitter is on East 2450 South near South 3210 East. [3] Programming is also heard on 99-watt FM translator K223DI at 92.5 MHz. [4]

Programming

Weekdays begin with a local news and talk show hosted by Andy Griffin. The rest of the KDXU schedule is nationally syndicated talk programs: The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, The Sean Hannity Show, The Ben Shapiro Show, The Matt Walsh Show, The Mark Levin Show, The Ramsey Show with Dave Ramsey, Coast to Coast AM with George Noory and This Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal .

Weekends feature specialty shows on health, money, religion, travel, technology and the paranormal. Syndicated weekend shows include The Kim Komando Show, Travel with Rudy Maxa and Strange Planet with Richard Syrett. Most hours begin with an update from Fox News Radio. KDXU is also an affiliate of the BYU Cougars Sports Network.

History

KDXU signed on in July 3, 1957;67 years ago. [5] It originally broadcast on 1450 kHz. It aired a full service format of Middle of the Road (MOR) music with news, talk and sports. It was an affiliate of the ABC Information Radio Network. In 1973, it added an FM station, KDXU-FM 93.5 MHz. The FM station aired an automated beautiful music format, playing quarter hour sweeps of soft instrumental music. It later switched its call sign to KZEZ.

KDXU was only permitted to broadcast at 1,000 watts by day and 250 watts at night. Management wanted to improve its signal. The station's frequency was moved to 890 kHz in September 1985. [6] A three-tower directional antenna was constructed for use from sunset to sunrise. The next year, 1986, KDXU and KZEZ were acquired by Simmons Family Media, Inc., based in Salt Lake City. Simmons later sold KDXU to Townsquare Media.

In January 2022, KDXU began simulcasting on FM translator K223DI at 92.5 MHz in St. George.
