Karate Association of India (KAI) is the national governing body for Karate in India on confirmation from Indian Olympic Association on 12 January 2023.

KAI is incorporated as a non-profitable company under section 8 of Registrar of Companies, Govt. of India and established for the overall development of Karate Sport in India previously affiliated with World Karate Federation (WKF) , Asian Karate Federation (AKF), South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF), Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) and Indian Olympic Association from 2013 to 2021. Still Indian Olympic Association or Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have not disaffiliated Karate Association of India but the renewal is pending due to some disputes created by previous administrators. But now Karate Association of India declared its newly elected body in Year 2021 and working smoothly with State Units and Approved Styles.

(KAI) is National Sports Federation for Karate Sports in India recognised by Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports untill 2020 and was affiliated with World Karate Federation (WKF) , Asian Karate Federation (AKF), South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF) and Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) from September 2013 to September 2020.

(KAI) is only association or federation to select the athletes to represent country at Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, National Games, National Martial Arts Games, University Games, Police Games, Judo Cluster, SAI Games, Khelo India, Youth Games etc. and other Good Will International Tournaments.

KAI is only sports body to promote the tremendous art of Karate Sports in all over India at School, Colleges, university and Corporate level not only as a Martial Art of Self Defence but also as a Sport. Karate Sports is now a medal event in Olympic, School Games, National Games, SAF Games & Asian Games, World Games, Youth Olympic and Karate duly recognised by Indian Olympic Association & International Olympic Committee.

The Asian Karate Federation (AKF) is the governing body of sport karate of about 44 countries of karatedo federation in Asia. The AKF is a non-profit organization and performs its activities on an amateur basis in compliance with the principles set forth in the Olympic Charter, duly recognized by the World Karate Federation, the largest international governing body of sport karate with over 198 member countries. It is the only karate organization recognised by the International Olympic Committee and has more than fifty million members. The Asian Karatedo Championships are the highest level of competition for sport karate in Asia. The competition is held in a different country every two years organized by the Asian Karatedo Federation (AKF) under the supervision of World Karate Federation (WKF), the largest international governing body of sport karate with over 180 member countries. It is the only karate organization recognised by the International Olympic Committee and has more than fifty million members. The AKF organizes the Junior and Senior Asian Karatedo Championships in every two years in between the Olympic and Asian Games and participates in WKF World Karate Championships which its member Japan play as a powerhouse country when it comes to sport karate vying for world titles with counterpart opponents from the powerful nations such as France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain and Italy in many world championships.

Kiyou Shimizu is a Japanese karateka competing in the women's kata event. She won the silver medal in the women's kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She is also a two-time gold medalist at the World Karate Championships and a two-time gold medalist at the Asian Games.

Yin Xiaoyan is a Chinese karateka. She won the silver medal in the women's 61 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. At the 2018 World Karate Championships in Madrid, Spain, she won the silver medal in the women's kumite 61 kg event.

He won the gold medal in the kumite 84 kg event at the 2016 World Karate Championships in Linz, Austria. At the Asian Games he won the gold medal in this event both in 2014 and in 2018. He is also a three-time gold medalist in his event at the Asian Karate Championships.

He is a seven-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the Asian Karate Championships. Grace Lau Mo-sheung is a Hong Kong karateka. Hamoon Derafshipour is an Iranian karateka. He qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where karate will be featured for the first time, as part of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Refugee Olympic Team, He started practicing karate when he was 7 years old. Previously, Derafshipour won a bronze medal in the Men’s Individual -67 Kg Kumite at the 2018 Senior World Karate Championships at Madrid, Spain and Two Asian Karate Championships titles, and several other medals, including three golds and three bronze in the World Karate Federation Karate1 Premier League Championship.

The African Karate Federation is the continental governing body of the sport karate in Africa. The UFAK is a non-governmental continental organisation. It has legal personality and financial autonomy. It is non-political, non-profit, non-denominational and cannot accept any racial or other discrimination and performs its activities on an amateur basis in compliance with the principles set forth in the Olympic Charter, duly recognised by the World Karate Federation (WKF), Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC), Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

Ali Mohamed Mohamed El-Sawy is an Egyptian karateka. He is the current World Number 1 Rank in the Men’s Individual -67 Kg Kumite and he won a Bronze Medal in Karate at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held at Baku Sports Hall, Baku, Azerbaijan from 13 to 14 May 2017. he got bronze medal at world championship Dubai 2021

He won silver medal in the Men’s Individual -75 Kg Kumite Karate at the 2019 African Games was held from 24 to 26 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco and Gold Medal in the Men’s Individual -75 Kg Kumite (UFAK) JUNIOR & SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020 at Tangier, Morocco.

The 2021 Asian Karate Championships were the 17th edition of the Senior Asian Karate Championship and were held in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 20 to 22, December 2021. The event was held at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace.

Nurkanat Azhikanov is a Kazakhstani Professional karateka, he is currently represents Kazakhstan internationally Kumite (Karate) event.
