Handball Association India (formerly Handball Federation of India) is the governing body for handball in India. HAI is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 at Rohtak. It is a member of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 1974. [1] It is also a member of Commonwealth Handball Association and South Asian Handball Federation. Originally, HFI was founded by Jagat Singh Lohan, a Jat from Rohtak (Haryana) who was an alumnus of YMCA College of Physical Education of Madras Chennai. He was also the first secretary general of HFI. [2]
In India, sport of handball and HAI was founded by Jagat Singh Lohan, also founder of netball and throwball games in India. His efforts in Germany during the Munich Olympics in 1972 helped in establishing HAI. The founding member states were Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Vidharbha and Jammu and Kashmir. The 1st Senior National Handball Championship was held at Sir Chhotu Ram Stadium, Rohtak, in the year 1972. Haryana won the gold medal and Vidharba got the silver medal.[ citation needed ]

India is a federal union comprising 28 states and 8 union territories, for a total of 36 entities. The states and union territories are further subdivided into districts and smaller administrative divisions.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) or Indian Olympic Committee (IOC) is responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games, Asian Games and other international international sports competitions, and managing Indian teams at these events. It goes with the name of Team India. It also acts as the Indian Commonwealth Games Association, responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Commonwealth Games.

The 16317 / 16318 Himsagar Express is a weekly Express train of the Indian Railways running between Kanyakumari in India's southernmost state of Tamil Nadu to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu and Kashmir- the northernmost state of India. It is currently the 35th longest running train service of world and third-longest-running train on the Indian Railways in terms of distance and time, surpassed by the 22503/04 Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express and 12507/08 Aronai Superfast Express. In 73 hours, the train covers a distance of 3790 km at a speed of 52 km/h, and transverses twelve of India's states halting at a total of 73 stations.
The high courts of India are the highest courts of appellate jurisdiction in each state and union territory of India. However, a high court exercises its original civil and criminal jurisdiction only if the subordinate courts are not authorized by law to try such matters for lack of peculiary, territorial jurisdiction. The All India Carrom Federation (AICF) is India's national sport federation for the indigenous game of carrom, sanctioning six to seven national-level tournaments per year. It is India's representative body in the International Carrom Federation. The AICF has 15 regional and 28 state subnational affiliate institutions, the largest of which is the Maharashtra Carrom Association, further subdivided into local organisations.

Hockey India plans, directs and conducts all the activities for both men's and women's hockey in India. It is recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India as the sole body responsible towards promoting Hockey in India. It was formed after Indian Hockey Federation was dismissed in 2008 by IOA.
The Rowing Federation of India (RFI) is the central body for the game of rowing in India. It was formed on 30 August 1976 with a view to make the sport of Rowing popular in India. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association and Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron and Asian Rowing Federation.
Netball Federation of India (NFI) is the national governing body of Netball in India. NFI is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated with the International Netball Federation (INF), the Asian Federation of Netball Association (AFNA) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. NFI was established in 1978 to standardise rules and regulations and to promote and develop the growth of netball in India. NFI operates all the Indian national representative netball sides, including the India national netball team and youth sides as well. NFI is also responsible for organising and hosting netball tournaments within India and scheduling the home international fixtures. Vagish Pathak is the current president of the organisation.
Indian National Basketball Championship for Men is a professional basketball tournament in India for men. This tournament is held by the Basketball Federation of India. The teams in the 61st Championship (2011) listed below with 27 states teams participating.
