The Karenga Community Wildlife Management Area (KCWMA) is a conservation area in north-eastern Uganda.

Ecology

The KCWMA is in the Northern Acacia-Commiphora bushlands and thickets ecosystem, part of the Kidepo Valley National Park critical landscape. [1]

Conservation

Among the challenges in the KCWMA are wildlife poaching, lack of adequate infrastructure for eco-tourists, and unsustainable use of natural resources, such as charcoal manufacturing. [1]

The Kidepo Game Reserve is a protected area located in Ikotos and Budi counties, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan, Africa. With an area of 1200 km2, this reserve is located 4° 04'N and 33° 28'E on the South Sudan/Uganda border, where it forms a contiguous ecosystem with Uganda's Kidepo Valley National Park.

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is an international conservation organization created with the intent of preserving Africa's wildlife, wild lands, and natural resources. Founded in 1961, the organization helped establish conservation programs at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka in Tanzania, and the Ecole de Faune de Garoua in Cameroon. It was carved out of Kaabong District and became operational on July 1, 2019. The district has two constituencies: Dodoth West and Napore West. It borders South Sudan and Kaabong District. The population is 84,100, divided over 7 sub-counties and 3 town councils.

Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF) is a UK-registered charity and not-for-profit organisation in Uganda that collaborates with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and other partners, both local and international to protect Uganda's national parks, protected areas, and conservancies. Uganda Wildlife Authority, a semi-autonomous government agency works with independent organisations to support their mandate of conserving, managing, and regulating Uganda's wildlife. UCF was founded in 2001 by Michael Keigwin MBE who initiated the Elephants, Crops and People project in Queen Elizabeth National Park. UCF has continued to work closely with UWA in Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
