Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve is a protected area located in Bushenyi district in south-western Uganda. Covering an area of 137 square kilometers, the reserve is characterized by its diverse ecosystem consisting of dense tropical rainforest vegetation and a wide range of wildlife.
The Queen Elizabeth National Park's Maramagambo Forest and Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve, cover a total area of 580 square kilometers and are adjacent to each other. According to the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act 8/2003, the National Forestry Authority (NFA), which is in charge of managing all 506 Central Forest Reserves in Uganda, is in charge of managing the forest reserve. The Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve, one of Uganda's protected areas, provides vital habitat for a variety of plant and animal species, aiding in the country's attempts to conserve its biodiversity. There are 414 different species of trees in the Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve. [4] The reserve's vegetation consists of mixed mature forest, secondary forest with a Parinari predominance, and secondary forest with a Musanga predominance. This diversified collection of habitats maintains a thriving ecosystem and offers refuge to a remarkable variety of wildlife. [4] With 378 different kinds of birds reported inside its borders, the forest reserve is noted for the variety of its bird life. [4] Numerous primate species, including chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys, live there as well. [4] [5] [6]
Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve is situated in south-western Uganda. Its precise latitude and longitude are 30 07'E and 0 17'S, respectively. [7] The National Forestry Authority (NFA), which is in charge of managing all Central Forest Reserves in Uganda, is given control over the management of the reserve. The NFA is essential in preserving the natural balance of the reserve, safeguarding its biodiversity, and encouraging the wise use of its resources. [7]
Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve offers visitors a variety of activities and attractions. Forest hikes offer a chance to discover the natural surroundings while taking in the variety of plant and animal life. [4] [8] Scientists and environmentalists interested in researching and protecting the distinctive ecology visit the area frequently for conservation and research purposes. [4] The other activity done in the Reserve is Chimpanzee trekking sine it is a home for 320 endangered chimpanzees and 50 of these chimpanzees are habituated with in the forest reserve. [9] The Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve is also well-known for its medicinal plants, which are used extensively by the nearby local populations to treat a variety of illnesses.[ citation needed ] The purpose of the study carried out within and surrounding the reserve was to examine the diversity, use, and conservation of medicinal plants as well as their significance. This demonstrates how the reserve's cultural and ecological importance go beyond its pure ecological worth.[ citation needed ]
Kyambura Game Reserve or Chambura Game Reserve, which includes the Kyambura Gorge, adjoins the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. It is home to a variety of wildlife. The area is an important water source for many animals and is surrounded by savanna, but is generally noted for its high concentration of primate life located in the gorge.
Maramagambo Forest is located in Bushenyi, Uganda. It adjoins the Queen Elizabeth National Park to the north. It is jointly managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and the National Forestry Authority. It is associated with its bat cave where a tourist from the Netherlands was exposed to Marburg virus present in the bats that live in the volcanic tube cave and developed Marburg virus disease. Following this outbreak, the cave was closed until the construction of a viewing platform with support from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The forest is bordered by two crater lakes named Lake Kyasanduka and Lake Nyamasingiri. Many chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, and Bates's pygmy antelopes can be found here.
The Budongo Forest in Uganda is northwest of the capital city Kampala on the way to Murchison Falls National Park and is located on the escarpment northeast of Lake Albert. It covers parts of Hoima and Kikuube. It is known for its former abundance of East African mahogany trees as well as being home to a population of chimpanzees. An exceptionally large mahogany tree is still found here and is more than 80 meters tall and some 20 meters in circumference. The forest covers 82,530 hectares and is a catchment for Lake Albert. It is managed by National Forestry Authority (NFA).
Nyabiku Central Forest Reserve is a gazetted forest reserve in Kibaale District, Uganda. It is located in the sub-counties of Mugarama and Nyamarunda, approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) from Kibaale Town. The reserve covers an area of 3,400 hectares.

The reserve is situated in the administrative districts of Bushenyi, Rubirizi, Ibanda and Kamwenge.
Rwengeye Central Forest Reserve is a protected tropical high forest in Kiryanga and Pacwa subcounties that are located in Kibaale District in Western Uganda. It covers an area of 329 hecatres (3.24 km²). It is operated by the National Forestry Authority (NFA). Its WDPA ID is 39999. It was declared a forest reserve in 1932.
Nyabyeya Central Forest Reserve is a forest reserve located in Masindi District, Western Uganda, Bujenje County, Budongo sub-county, and Nyabyeya parish in western Uganda. It is part of the extensive network of Central Forest Reserves managed by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) in Uganda. This forest reserve covers an area of about 358.06 hectares. Nyabyeya Forest Reserve was created to train students in forestry under the Nyabyeya Forestry College.
