Asian Para Games appearances

Kazakhstan participated at the 2018 Asian Para Games which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 6 to 13 October 2018. The Kazakhstani delegation was composed of 90 athletes who competed in nine sports, namely: table tennis, para judo, para swimming, shooting para sports, para powerlifting, archery, chess, para athletics and sitting volleyball. The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every fourth year among athletes from all over Asia. It was the first time that Kazakhstan hosted such a large event since independence from the Soviet Union. The documents for the hosting city were signed in Kuwait on March 4, 2006.

The Astana Arena is a football stadium in Astana, Kazakhstan. The stadium holds 30,000 and has a retractable roof. It serves as the national stadium for the Kazakhstan national football team. Astana Arena is the largest stadium in the country and it was built from 2006 to 2009 at a cost of $185 million, and was officially opened on 3 July 2009. It is also a home ground for FC Astana of the Kazakhstan Premier League and FC Bayterek of the Kazakhstan First Division. The stadium hosted the opening ceremony of the 7th Asian Winter Games on 31 January 2011. Astana Arena was one of the venues to bid to host UEFA Euro 2020 matches.

Kenes Rakishev or Kenges, is a Kazakh businessperson who is close to the authoritarian regime in Kazakhstan. He is the son-in-law of former Kazakh Prime Minister, Imangali Tasmagambetov.

Pavel Alexandrovich Iliashenko is a modern pentathlete from Kazakhstan. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished twenty-ninth in the men's event, with a score of 5,432 points. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he finished in 35th place.

Kazakhstan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. It was the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics in the post-Soviet era. The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan fielded a roster of 104 athletes, 55 men and 49 women, to compete across seventeen different sports at these Games, the smallest Summer Olympic team since the nation's debut in Atlanta 1996. Moreover, Kazakhstan did not send teams in any of the team sports for the first time in twenty years. Track and field accounted for the largest number of athletes on the Kazakh squad, with 25 entries. There was a single competitor each in slalom canoeing, track cycling, fencing, and table tennis.

Kazakhstan competed in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26. Kazakhstan competed in all five sports. The team consists of 116 athletes and was announced on January 17.

Shooting at the 2018 Asian Games was held at the Jakabaring Shooting Range, Palembang, Indonesia. It was held from 19 to 26 August 2018.
