Vietnam participated at the 2018 Asian Para Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 6 to 13 October 2018. [1]

Contents

The Vietnamese delegation was composed of 75 people, 52 of which were athletes and 11 were trainers and medical workers. Vietnam participated in 7 sports namely; athletics, swimming, powerlifting, chess, badminton, table tennis and judo. [1] Vietnam Paralympic Association vice president and general secretary Vu The Phiet served as head of the delegation. [2]

Asian Games Multi-sport event

The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

2001 Southeast Asian Games

The 2001 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 21st Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was the fifth time Malaysia host the games, and its first time since 1989. Malaysia previously also hosted the 1965 games, 1971 games and the 1977 games.

The 2003 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 22nd Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Hanoi, Vietnam. This was the first time for Vietnam to host the Southeast Asian Games and the first time for East Timor participated at the Southeast Asian Games.

ASEAN Para Games

The ASEAN Para Games is a biannual multi-sport event held after every Southeast Asian Games involving disabled athletes from the current 11 Southeast Asia countries. Participating athletes have a variety of disabilities ranging from spastic, cerebral palsy, mobility disabilities, visual disabilities, amputated to intellectual disabilities. The ASEAN Para Games is under the regulation of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) with supervision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Asian Paralympic Committee and is traditionally hosted by the country where the Southeast Asian Games took place.

2016 Asian Beach Games

The Fifth Asian Beach Games was held in Danang, Vietnam. It was the first time for Vietnam to host an Asia level multi-sports event, after Hanoi held Asian Indoor Games (2009). However, this was the first time that an event not be held in Hanoi.

2003 ASEAN Para Games

The 2003 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 2nd ASEAN Para Games, was a Southeast Asian disabled multi-sport event held eight days after the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam from 21 to 27 December 2003. This was the first time Vietnam hosted the ASEAN Para Games and the first time East Timor participated at the ASEAN Para Games.

2021 Southeast Asian Games 31st edition of the Southeast Asian Games

The 2021 Southeast Asian Games, commonly known as the 31st SEA Games, is scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from 21 November to 2 December 2021 and will feature 40 sports, mainly those played at the Olympic Games. This is the second time Vietnam will hold the SEA Games since 2003.

Vietnam at the 2017 Asian Winter Games Sporting event delegation

Vietnam is scheduled to compete in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26. This marks the country's official debut at the Asian Winter Games. The country is scheduled to compete in one sport. The team consists of six athletes.

2020 ASEAN Para Games

The 2020 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 10th ASEAN Para Games, is a cancelled biannual multi-sport event for athletes with physical disabilities which was intended to be held after the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines. Participants were expected from 11 countries in Southeast Asia. The games, patterned after the Paralympics, was to include athletes with various disabilities.

Vietnam competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country surpassed its target of winning 3 gold medals at the Games by concluding the competition with 5 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 19 bronze medals, ranking 16th out of 46 participating members of the Olympic Council of Asia.
