The discography of Estonian singer-songwriter Kerli consists of two studio albums, three extended plays (EPs), sixteen singles and fifteen music videos. Kerli signed a record deal with Island Records in 2006 [1] and released in July 2008 her debut album Love Is Dead, which peaked at number 126 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. The album's lead single "Walking on Air" reached the top 40 of European territories such as Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, resulting in its summit at number seventy-five on the European Hot 100 Singles. [2]
In 2010, Kerli's "Tea Party" was a single from the Alice in Wonderland film inspired soundtrack Almost Alice . [3] After the singles "Army of Love" (2011) and "Zero Gravity" (2012)—which peaked at number one and six on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Songs, respectively—her second EP, originally intended to be a full studio album, Utopia , was released in March 2013, with "The Lucky Ones" released as its lead single. Fine Young Cannibals (FYC) were an English pop rock band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1984 by former The Beat band bassist David Steele and guitarist Andy Cox with singer Roland Gift. Their self-titled 1985 debut album contained "Johnny Come Home" and a cover of "Suspicious Minds", two songs that were top 40 hits in the UK, Canada, Australia and Europe. "The Time (Dirty Bit)" is a song by American musical group the Black Eyed Peas from their sixth studio album, The Beginning. It was written by group members will.i.am and apl.de.ap along with DJ Ammo, who produced the song with will.i.am. Additionally, Franke Previte, John DeNicola and Donald Markowitz received co-writing credits since the chorus interpolates 1987's Dirty Dancing soundtrack "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes.

Following the release of two promotional singles from the album, it was announced by Universal Motown Records vice-president Chris Anokute that "The Lucky Ones" would serve as the first single from the extended play. It was written by Kerli, Svante Halldin and Jakob Hazell, while production was handled by the latter two as the production team SeventyEight and was released on October 29, 2012, through Island Records.
