Khammam is the city in Khammam district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is the fourth largest city in the state. It is the headquarters of the Khammam district and Khammam mandal also. It is located about 193 kilometres (120 mi) east of the state capital, Hyderabad, 61 kilometres (38 mi) from Suryapet, 120 kilometres (75 mi) from Warangal and also it is located about 121 kilometres (75 mi) North of the Andhra Pradesh state capital, Amaravathi. The river Munneru flows on the western side of the city. As of 2011 census of India, Khammam urban agglomeration has a population of 313,504. However, on 19 October 2012, the civic body of Khammam was upgraded to a municipal corporation. Post- upgradation to corporation, the population of Khammam was approximated to be 3,07,000.

Secunderabad Junction is a major intercity junction railway station and a commuter rail hub in the Hyderabad urban area. In the city centre, the station is in the South Central Railway zone of Indian Railways. Built in 1874 by the Nizam of Hyderabad during the British era, it was the main station of Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway until the Kacheguda railway station opened in 1916. The station was taken over by Indian Railways in 1951, when NGSR was nationalized. Its main portico and concourse are influenced by Nizamesque architecture. The station, which resembles a fort, is a tourist attraction in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Garib Rath Express is a daily running superfast garib rath train of the Indian Railways connecting Secunderabad Railway Station to Visakhapatnam. This is the first and only Garib Rath to run daily. The train numbers are 12739 and 12740. It belongs to the South Central Railways. Train number 12740 runs from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam and train number 12739 runs from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad.
The 18504 / 03 Sainagar Shirdi–Visakhapatnam Express is an Express train belonging to Indian Railways South Coast Railway zone that run between Sainagar Shirdi and Visakhapatnam Junction in India.
The Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Duronto Express is a superfast AC express train of the Indian Railways, announced in 2011-12 Railway Budget by Mamata Banerjee, the then Minister of Indian Railways, connecting Secunderabad (SC) to Visakhapatnam (VSKP). It is the fastest way between the two cities and will consist of 18 coaches. On 30 June 2012, the Indian Railways announced that the train will be flagged of on 6 July. It was however flagged off from Visakhapatnam on 12 July 2012.

Kozhikode railway station also known as Calicut railway station is one of the largest and major railway stations in the state of Kerala, India. At ₹200 crore in financial year 2018–19, it is the largest in terms of passenger revenue in Palakkad division. The station has four platforms, two terminals and a total number of six tracks. The first platform has a capacity to accommodate trains with 24 coaches and second & third platform has the capacity to accommodate 20 coaches; and the fourth one has the capacity to accommodate 24 coaches. It heralds as the only A1-graded station in Palghat railway division with a daily turnout exceeding 25,000 passengers. It is one of the major railway stations in Kerala with trains connecting the city to other major cities in India such as Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Mangaluru, Jammu Tawi, Goa, Ernakulam and so forth. The other railway stations in the city include Ferok, Kallayi Kozhikode South, Vellayil and West Hill.

The Secunderabad–Shalimar Express is a Superfast AC Express train of the Indian Railways connecting Secunderabad (SC) to Kolkata Shalimar (SHM). It is handled by the South Central Railway zone (SCR). The train was announced in the 2012 Annual Railway Budget of India and its rake was rolled out in September 2012. The train stops at 14 stations en route, connecting major cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar and Kharagpur. The train runs weekly. The train was flagged off from Secunderabad on 28 May 2013 at 11:00 am by Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy, the then Minister of State of Railways and Anjan Kumar Yadav, an MP from Secunderabad.

The Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam Express is a Superfast Express AC express train of the Indian Railways running between Secunderabad (SC) and Visakhapatnam (VSKP). It is handled by the South Central Railway (SCR). The train was announced in the 2014 Railway budget of India and it uses the rake of Secunderabad–Shalimar Express. The train stops at 13 stations en route, connecting major cities like Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru and Rajahmundry. The train runs weekly and is the first LHB AC train to be introduced on this route. The train was flagged off from Secunderabad on at 11:15 am on 19 January 2015 by Minister of State of Railways Suresh Prabhu. The locomotive links for this train have not been fixed yet but often the train is hauled by a Lallaguda-based WAP-7 or WAP-4 locomotive between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam. Recently this train is diverted via Guntur Junction
