Hyderabad railway station, popularly known as Hyderabad Deccan railway station or Nampally railway station, (station code: HYB^[1]) is located at Nampally, in Hyderabad. It was constructed and earlier run by the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway of the Hyderabad State.

Introduction

Hyderabad Deccan railway station is a terminus, meaning the tracks go only in one direction. The station has 6 platforms. Platform No. 4 is the main platform that is directly located at the main entrance of the station, and is the first platform that one reaches after entering the station. Platform No. 4 is meant for trains departing from Hyderabad Deccan, such as Telangana Express, Charminar Express, Chennai Express, Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam Godavari Express (PF. No. 5). Platform numbers 1, 2 and 3 are smaller platforms, and they are located on the "side" entrance of the station. These platforms are exclusively used for operating Hyderabad Multi Modal Transport System trains and the Warangal/ Kazipet Push-Pull Service, and other slow low priority trains. Platform number 5 is used for departure of trains and Platform No. 6 is exclusively used for the arrival and receival of incoming trains.

It falls under the Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway. The station serves the city of Hyderabad by rail to and from many important towns and cities in the country.

Developments

The station is powered by 228 kW (306 hp) solar power plant costing ₹1.3 crore (US$160,000) funded by Persistent Foundation and EPC completed by Sunshot Technologies.^[2] It is connected to Nampally Metro Station with a covered walkway and railing.^[3]

Secunderabad Junction is an NSG–1 category Indian railway station in Secunderabad railway division of South Central Railway zone. It is the major Railway Junction in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is one of the busiest railway stations in South India and one of the most important hubs in the country and a commuter rail hub in the Hyderabad urban area. Built in 1874 by the Nizam of Hyderabad during the British era, it was the main station of Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway until the Kacheguda railway station opened in 1916. Charlapalli railway station is the fifth major South Central Railway Terminal developed in Hyderabad City after the Nampally, Secunderabad, Lingampally station and Kacheguda Railway Terminal. It is redeveloped in such a way that to facilitate the future needs and to create wider connectivity to other cities and parts of the country. It is currently being operated by the South Central Railway zone of Indian Railways. The station was mainly developed to reduced the load on the other three major terminals which are saturated with heavy moment of trains and passenger.
