Kim Myung-gon (born December 3, 1952) is a South Korean actor, screenwriter and music director. He is best known for starring in and writing the screenplay of Korean film classic Seopyeonje , [1] for which he won Best Actor at the 1993 Blue Dragon Film Awards. Kim was also Korea's Minister of Culture and Tourism from March 2006 to May 2007. [2] [3] [4]
Kim is a pansori performer. He was chairman of the organizing committee of the Jeonju International Sori Festival (Sound of Voice & Music) from 2009 to 2010. [5] [6] [7]
He taught Theater and Film as an instructor at Woosuk University from 1997 to 1998, then taught Theater as a visiting professor at Korea National University of Arts in 1999.
Kim founded the Arirang Theatre Company in 1986, where he was active until 1999. He then became president of the National Theater of Korea from 2000 to 2005. He directed Korean stage play adaptations of Karl Wittlinger's Do You Know the Milky Way? in 2009, [8] and Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman (starring Lee Soon-jae and Jeon Moo-song) in 2013. [9] Kim also produced Endless Voyage in 2012, a stage performance mixing ballet and traditional Korean dance.
In 2012, Kim published his autobiography Dreaming Clown, which elaborates on his various experiences with the arts and government. [1]

The King and the Clown is a 2005 South Korean historical drama film starring Kam Woo-sung, Jung Jin-young, and Lee Joon-gi. It was adapted from the 2000 stage play, Yi ("You") about Yeonsangun of Joseon, a Joseon dynasty king and a court clown who mocks him. It was released on 29 December 2005, runs for 119 minutes; and distributed domestically by Cinema Service and internationally by CJ Entertainment.
Kam Woo-sung is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his portrayal of a court jester serving a despotic king in the hit period film The King and the Clown.

Founded in 2001, Jeonju International Sori Festival (전주세계소리축제) is South Korea's main event for traditional music and, since 2011, world music. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, Songlines listed Jeonju Sori Festival among the World's Best 25 International Festivals, the only Asian festival in the list.
Hansan: Rising Dragon is a 2022 South Korean historical war action film directed by Kim Han-min. It is the second film of Kim's trilogy about battles led by Yi Sun-sin, which started with the 2014 film The Admiral: Roaring Currents. The film depicts the historical Battle of Hansan which took place five years before the Battle of Myeongnyang depicted in The Admiral. It was released on July 27, 2022 in IMAX, 4DX and ScreenX formats.
