This is the second time in Miss International history the crowning of the runners-up was to see last year’s Top 5 winners. This is the first time Indonesia won the Miss International pageant, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.

Miss World 2018, the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 8 December 2018 at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China. Manushi Chhillar of India crowned her successor Vanessa Ponce of Mexico at the end of the event. She is the first Mexican woman to win Miss World. 118 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown.
Miss Earth 2018 was the 18th edition of the Miss Earth pageant with the theme "Goddesses of the Earth", held on November 3, 2018 at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Karen Ibasco of the Philippines crowned Nguyễn Phương Khánh of Vietnam as her successor. This is the first time Vietnam won the Miss Earth pageant.
