The Konkan Railway is one of the 19 railway zones in India with its headquarters at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The first passenger train ran on Konkan railway tracks on 20 March 1993, between Udupi and Mangalore. During its initial years of operation in the mountainous Konkan region, a number of accidents prompted Konkan Railway to implement new technology. Anti-collision devices, the Sky Bus and roll-on/roll-off are several of the railway's innovations. The 756.25 km (469.91 mi) long railway line connects the states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. The first train on the completed track was sent off on 26 January 1998.

New Panvel is a residential, commercial and educational node of Navi Mumbai, Raigad District, Maharashtra and comes under the Konkan division. New Panvel was developed on marshy land and was previously a Mango cultivated area. New Panvel is divided into two parts: New Panvel (E), on the eastern side of Panvel railway station and Khanda Colony or New Panvel (W) on the western side of it. Both parts of New Panvel are connected by a flyover bridge also known as Khanda Colony Flyover. New Panvel (W) is also popularly called Khanda Colony by the local villagers, as the city is adjacent to two small villages Dhakta Khanda and Motha Khanda.

Kudal is a census town in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, India. It is situated on River Karli in southwest Maharashtara. Kudal is the fourth largest town in Sindhudurg after Sawantwadi, Malvan and Kankavli. As of 2011, the population is 16,015. Kudal supports one MIDC area in the Konkan division. The Kudal railway station is located on the Konkan Railway route and connects the town with Mumbai metro situated in the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway of the north, and Mangalore on the south. It is a major stop for the Konkan Railway. The Deccan Odyssey train also stops in Kudal. National Highway 66 passes through Kudal. Apart from that, it also has two bus stations, a new one and old one. The old one is situated in market while the new one is just adjacent to the NH-66. Kudal is situated in centre of the Sindhudurg district and also considered one of the fastest-growing towns in the Konkan region. The Desai's were the original rulers of Kudal, who were tributaries of the Bijapur Sultanate, later the Marathas and then under the British.
The 12619/20 Matsyagandha Superfast Express is a daily Superfast Express train running between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) and Mangaluru Central. The train was introduced on 1 May 1998 as Mangalore-Kurla Express. The Matsyagandha Express travels through some of the very difficult terrains of India. Matsyagandha Express travelling from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai (LTT) to Mangaluru Central became first train to take Roha-Veer double line on Konkan railway route on 30 August 2021 at 7.30p.m.
The Netravati Express (16345/46) is a daily Express train connecting capital cities of Kerala and Maharashtra. It operates between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. The train runs on the Konkan Railway.

The Mandovi Express is a train which operates between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Madgaon Junction, the main railway station in Goa, and is currently operated by the Central Railway and the Konkan Railway. This train is named after the Mandovi River. This train is also colloquially known as "The Food Queen of Konkan Railways," by rail fans.
Badnera railway station serves Badnera, an area in Amravati city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a junction station on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line. There is a 5 ft 6 in broad gauge line to Narkhed. Today, Badnera is a part of Amravati Municipal Corporation. City buses are also available from this railway station to many areas of Amravati city. This is one of the major junctions on the Mumbai–Howrah railway line. Badnera is a crew change point for all goods trains plying the Bhusaval–Nagpur line; in addition to that some Express trains get a crew change here as well. Badnera is the last station of Bhusaval Division of Central Railway so, many express trains get slack time here to reach Badnera at the right time. There is one branch line for Amravati which is for 9 km one of shortest branch lines in India. Badnera, New Amravati railway station are in Amravati Municipal Corporation, so connected well with Amravati city. Trains starting from Amravati to Nagpur do not touch Badnera due to a chord line which eliminates reversal at Badnera. 51262 Wardha Amravati Passenger halts here for 110 minutes, 51198 Wardha Bhusaval Passenger halts here for 85 min which is very rare in Indian Railways in terms of halt time.

Mookambika Road Byndoor is a railway station in coastal Karnataka in South India. Its four-letter code is BYNR. Mookambika Road Byndoor is the main railway station in the town of Byndoor in Udupi district. It serves Byndoor city which is 1 kilometre away from the station. It is the nearest railway station to the famous pilgrimage centre, Kollur Mookambika temple. The distance from Byndoor railway station to Kollur Mookambika temple is about 28 km which can be covered in 40 minutes to one hour by road. Trains from here connect the city to prominent state capitals of India like Bangalore (Karnataka), Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and so forth. It is also well connected to the major railway stations such as Goa (Madgoan), Udupi, Mangalore, Kasaragod and Ernakulam. Rail connectivity in Byndoor was established in 1997. A total of 34 express and passenger trains halt here; there was one originating and terminating trains at this station: Mookambika Road–Kannur Passenger train; however this service was terminated in 2017 within two years of service due to lack of revenue generation. Although the railway station caters to a lot of passengers and superfast trains on a daily basis, it does not have a siding line or passing loop. Any crossing of trains can only happen either on Bijoor or Shiroor railway stations 19 km apart.
The 22119/22120 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus–Madgaon Junction Tejas Express is one of India's full-AC train fleet introduced by Indian Railways connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Maharashtra and Madgaon Junction in Goa. It is currently being operated with 22119/22120 train numbers on five days a week basis but during monsoon season the train will run thrice a week. The train route was officially extended from Karmali to Madgaon Junction on 1st November 2022. This is the first Tejas express to be equipped with 2 vistadome coaches on each end.
