The LA Current is a professional swimming club and one of the original eight clubs of the International Swimming League. The team is based in Los Angeles led by general manager Lenny Krayzelburg [2] and head coach David Marsh. [3]

Contents

During the inaugural season in 2019 they earned their spot in the final as one of the top two teams in their division. [4] They secured their spot in the Final by winning the US Derby. The Current finished 4th place in 2019 ISL Finals. [5]

2019 International Swimming League season

Team roster

ISL teams had a maximum roster of 32 athletes for 2019 season, with a suggested size of each club's traveling roster of 28 (14 men and 14 women). Each club had a captain and a vice-captain of different gender. Majority of the Current roster consisted of Americans athletes but did include a few from other countries around the world.

2020 International Swimming League season

Team roster

ISL teams had a maximum roster of 32 athletes for 2020 season, with a suggested size of each club's traveling roster of 28 (14 men and 14 women). Each club had a captain and a vice-captain of different gender. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire ISL 2020 season was held at the Danube Arena in Budapest, Hungary. From October 16 – November 22, all swimmers and coaching staff operated in a bio-secure bubble.

Caeleb Remel DresselOLY is an American professional swimmer who specializes in freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. He swims representing the Cali Condors as part of the International Swimming League. He won a record seven gold medals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, nine medals, six of which were gold, at the 2018 World Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, and eight medals, including six gold, at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju. Dressel is a seven-time Olympic gold medalist and holds world records in the 100 meter butterfly, 50 meter freestyle, and 100 meter individual medley.

Blake John Pieroni is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming. He is a two time Olympian and gold medalist in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Olympics. On the relay in 2016, he swam in the prelims of the race, on the 2020 Olympics 4×100-meter freestyle relay he swam in both the prelims and the final. William Andrew Licon is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in breaststroke and medley events. He previously competed for the professional team LA Current in the International Swimming League. Licon is a three-time World Championship medalist, a two-time Pan American Games gold medalist and has been a member of the United States national team since 2015. He is the current American record-holder and former NCAA & US Open record-holder in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Kayla Noelle Sanchez is a Filipina-Canadian swimmer. A member of the Canadian national team until 2022, she has represented Canada at the Olympic and World championship level, and is a two-time Olympic medalist. She is one of Canada's most prominent Filipina Canadian athletes.

DC Trident is a professional swimming team based in Washington, D.C. DC Trident competes in the International Swimming League (ISL), which is a global, professional swimming league consisting of ten teams: the DC Trident, the New York Breakers, the L.A. Amy Bilquist is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in the backstroke and freestyle events. She represented LA Current in the 2019 season of the International Swimming League and will represent DC Trident in the 2020 season.

NY Breakers is a professional swimming club and one of the original eight clubs of the global International Swimming League (ISL) based in New York City led by general manager, Tim Teeter and head coach, Martin Truijens. The ISL is owned by Konstantin Grigorishin and had its inaugural season in 2019. The original eight clubs were: DC Trident, the New York Breakers, the LA Current, and the Cali Condors in the United States of America, and the Aqua Centurions, Energy Standard, the London Roar, and IRON in Europe. In 2020 ISL added the Toronto Titans (Canada) and a Tokyo team (Japan) for a total of ten teams.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">London Roar</span>

London Roar is a professional swimming club based in London and one of the first clubs of the International Swimming League (ISL) to be formed. It was formed in March 2019, with an international roster of swimmers including Adam Peaty who was among the first to support the formation of ISL independent of FINA. It is run by its general manager Rob Woodhouse. London hosted the sixth of the seven meets in ISL's inaugural season in 2019. The team finished second in 2019 and third in 2020.

The Aqua Centurions is a professional swimming club and one of the original eight clubs of the International Swimming League. The team is based in Rome, IT led by General Manager Alessandra Guerra and Head Coach Matteo Giunta.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 International Swimming League</span> Sports season

The 2021 International Swimming League was the third edition of the International Swimming League, a professional swimming league, established in 2019. It comprised ten teams composed of both women and men. The league, due to COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions, consisted of a total of eighteen short course swimming meets, called matches, spanning four stages of competition and held in two locations. In each match, swimmers from four different teams competed in individual, relay, and skins events. The ten regular season matches and one play in match took place in the city of Naples, Italy. The six play off matches in the semifinals stage of competition took place in the city of Eindhoven, Netherlands, as did the final match.
