La Primavera (literally meaning "The Spring" in Spanish) is a town and municipality located in the Department of Vichada, Colombia.
La Primavera was founded by colonizers from other regions of Colombia on 15 July 1959. In 1968 La Primavera became a Colombian National Police Inspection site and in 1972 it became a corregimiento. [3]
In 1987 La Primavera became a municipality, the second in the then Commissary of Vichada. In 1991, the Commissary of Vichada became the Department of Vichada and La Primavera one of its municipalities. [4]
The municipality of La Primavera borders to the north with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the Meta river as boundary; to the east with the municipality of Puerto Carreño; to the south with the municipality of Cumaribo and to the west with the municipality of Santa Rosalia. [5]
The geography of La Primavera is predominantly flat as part of the Orinoquia region in the Llanos plains. The region is crossed by numerous rivers affluents of the Meta River basin. The municipality has a total area of 98,970 square kilometres (38,213 sq mi) and the seat of the municipality covers an area of 54,789 square kilometres (21,154 sq mi). [6]
La Primavera has a tropical monsoon climate (Köppen Am) with heavy rainfall from April to November and little to very little rain from December to March.

Ranching is the main economic activity in the municipality of La Primavera. Agriculture is practiced for subsistence and produces mainly cotton, maize and plantain. [9] The municipality is developing its artisan fishing, commercializing some 30 varieties of fish for export to the Colombian capital city Bogotá. The government is studying the possibility of exploiting titanium deposits and exploring oil fields. [10]
The Orinoco is one of the longest rivers in South America at 2,140 km (1,330 mi). Its drainage basin, sometimes known as the Orinoquia, covers ca 1 million km2, with 65% of it in Venezuela and the 35% in Colombia. It is the fourth largest river in the world by discharge volume of water. The nevertheless high volume flow of the Orinoco can be explained by the high precipitation in almost the entire catchment area. The Orinoco River and its tributaries are the major transportation system for eastern and interior Venezuela and the Llanos of Colombia. The environment and wildlife in the Orinoco's basin are extremely diverse.
Surigao del Sur, officially the Province of Surigao del Sur, is a province in the Philippines located in the Caraga region in Mindanao. Its capital is Tandag City while Bislig is the most populous city in the province. Surigao del Sur is situated at the eastern coast of Mindanao and faces the Philippine Sea to the east.
Arauca is a department of Eastern Colombia located in the extreme north of the Orinoco Basin of Colombia, bordering Venezuela. The southern boundary of Arauca is formed by the Casanare and Meta Rivers, separating Arauca from the departments of Casanare and Vichada. To the west, Arauca borders the department of Boyacá. The Caño Limón oil fields located within Arauca account for almost a third of the Colombian oil output. Its capital is the town of Arauca.
Vichada Department is a department of the Republic of Colombia in South America. Vichada is located in the eastern plains of Colombia, in the Orinoquía Region within the Orinoco river basin bordering the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the north and east. To the north the department also borders with Arauca Department, to the northwest with Casanare Department, to the west with Meta Department, to the southwest narrowly bordering with Guaviare Department and to the south with Guainía Department. The department is the second largest in Colombia and scarcely populated in comparison to other departments.
Puerto Carreño, translation English: Puerto Carreno, lit. 'Port Carreno' is the departmental capital city, and a municipality combined of the department of Vichada in the Llanos of Colombia located on the Orinoco River. Puerto Carreño is best-known as a tourist gateway to hundreds of adventure, ecological and sustainable tourism destinations, it is well-known for peacock bass fishing on the Vita River, Indigenous artisans from the Orinoquia, as a river port trade center, and as a frontier settlement that has become the capital of the second largest department (province) in Colombia.
Santa Fe de Antioquia is a municipality in the Antioquia Department, Colombia. The city is located approximately 58 kilometres (36 mi) north of Medellín, the department capital. The population was 23,216 at the 2018 census.
The Meta River is a major left tributary of the Orinoco River in eastern Colombia and southern Venezuela, South America. The Meta originates in the Eastern Ranges of the Andes and flows through the Meta Department, Colombia as the confluence of the Humea, Guatiquía and Guayuriba rivers. It flows east-northeastward across the Llanos Orientales of Colombia following the direction of the Meta Fault. The Meta forms the northern boundary of Vichada Department, first with Casanare Department, then with Arauca Department, and finally with Venezuela, down to Puerto Carreño where it flows into the Orinoco.
Fonseca is a municipality located in the Colombian Department of La Guajira. The town celebrates the Festival del Retorno in honor of St Augustine with religious celebrations, vallenato music events and others.
Istmina is a small city and municipality in the Chocó Department, Colombia. The city of Istmina was founded in 1834 by Juan Nepomuceno Mosquera, initially with the name of San Pablo. The name was changed in 1903 to Istmina, a contraction of isthmus and minas (mines), two characteristics of the area. The municipality covers 1,880 square kilometres (726 sq mi), with an average elevation of 79 metres (259 ft), and an average temperature of 26.7 °C (80 °F). Istmina is located 75 km (47 mi) from the departmental capital, Quibdó.
Granada is a town and municipality in the Meta Department, Colombia. The municipality has an area of 348.3 square kilometres (134 sq mi) and a population of 68,876. The municipality is located between 3° 26" latitude north and 73° 43" longitude west and between 372 and 410 metres above sea level. The daily mean air temperature varies between 24 and 25.6 °C. Annual rainfall is between 2,400 and 2,800 millimetres. The town is connected to Santa Fé de Bogotá along a 180 kilometres road and lies about 80 kilometres or 50 miles from the regional capital Villavicencio.
Cumaribo is a town and municipality located in the Department of Vichada, Republic of Colombia. Cumaribo was founded by Jose Nicolino Mattar in 1959.
Santa Rosalía is a town and municipality located in the Department of Vichada, Colombia.
Because of its natural structure, Colombia can be divided into six distinct natural regions. These consist of the Andean Region, covering the three branches of the Andes mountains found in Colombia; the Caribbean Region, covering the area adjacent to the Caribbean Sea; the Pacific Region adjacent to the Pacific Ocean; the Orinoquía Region, part of the Llanos plains mainly in the Orinoco river basin along the border with Venezuela; the Amazon Region, part of the Amazon rainforest; and finally the Insular Region, comprising the islands in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Tayrona National Natural Park is a protected area in the Colombian northern Caribbean region and within the jurisdiction of the city of Santa Marta, 34 kilometres (21 mi) from the city centre. The park presents a biodiversity endemic to the area of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range, featuring a variety of climates and geography that ranges from arid sea level to 900 meters above sea level. The park covers approximately 30 square kilometres (12 sq mi) of maritime area in the Caribbean Sea and approximately 150 square kilometres (58 sq mi) of land.
The Bogotá savanna is a montane savanna, located in the southwestern part of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense in the center of Colombia. The Bogotá savanna has an extent of 4,251.6 square kilometres (1,641.6 sq mi) and an average altitude of 2,650 metres (8,690 ft). The savanna is situated in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes.
La Siberia is a comarca in the northeastern portion of the province of Badajoz in the autonomous community of Extremadura, Spain. Its capital is the municipality of Herrera del Duque. The comarca is bordered to the north by the provinces of Cáceres and Toledo, on the west by Las Vegas Altas comarca, on the south by La Serena comarca, and on the east by the province of Ciudad Real. The district contains 18 municipalities with a combined area of 2,943 km2 (1,136 sq mi) and a population of 29,214 people.
The Guayupe are an Arawak-speaking indigenous group of people in modern-day Colombia. They inhabit the westernmost parts of the department of Meta. At the time of the Spanish conquest, more than 250,000 Guayupe were living in large parts of Meta.

The Apure–Villavicencio dry forests (NT0201) is an ecoregion in Venezuela and Colombia to the east of the eastern cordillera of the Andes. The ecoregion covers the transition zone between montane forests in the Andes and the llanos, or lowland grasslands. It has been severely degraded by deforestation, farming and ranching. The remnants are poorly protected.
The Sumapaz River is a major tributary of the Magdalena River in Colombia. The 95 kilometres (59 mi) long river originates in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes at the largest páramo in the world; Sumapaz, of which it takes its name. It forms the natural boundary between the departments of Cundinamarca and Tolima.
