Lagena is a genus of benthic foraminifera of the family Lagenidae, the superfamily Nodosarioidea, the suborder Lagenina and the order Lagenida. Its type-species is Serpula (Lagena) sulcata . Its chronostratigraphic range spans from the Jurassic to the Present .

Shuvuuia is a genus of bird-like theropod dinosaur from the late Cretaceous period of Mongolia. It is a member of the family Alvarezsauridae, small coelurosaurian dinosaurs which are characterized by short but powerful forelimbs specialized for digging. The type species is Shuvuuia deserti, or "desert bird". The name Shuvuuia is derived from the Mongolian word shuvuu (шувуу) meaning "bird".
Teleostomi is an obsolete taxon of jawed vertebrates that supposedly includes the tetrapods, bony fish, and the wholly extinct acanthodian fish. Key characters of this group include an operculum and a single pair of respiratory openings, features which were lost or modified in some later representatives. The teleostomes include all jawed vertebrates except the chondrichthyans and the extinct class Placodermi.
Lagenaria is a genus of gourd-bearing vines in the squash family (Cucurbitaceae). Lagenaria contains six species, all of which are indigenous to tropical Africa. The best-known species, the calabash or bottle gourd, L. siceraria, has been domesticated by humans, and has spread beyond Africa. The other species are not cultivated. The gourds of the various species may be harvested young and used as a vegetable. More commonly, the gourds are harvested mature, then dried, and used in making utensils. Gourds of L. siceraria have been used to store water and other liquids since ancient times. The generic name lagenaria comes from classical Latin lagena meaning bottle or flask, plus Latin suffix -aria.

Lagena radicicola is an oomycete plant pathogen that was described from the roots of wheat, barley, and rye from a field in Saskatchewan in 1930 by Vanterpool and Ledingham. Thalli grow inside the root cells; they are tubular, unbranched, and highly variable in size. Thalli give rise to sporangia, which either release zoospores into a vesicle exterior to the plant cell or into the plant cell. Zoospores are reniform to pyrifom and biflagellate with an anterior flagellum covered with mastigonemes and a posterior whiplash flagellum.
