Lakshmy Ramakrishnan is an Indian actress and director. She made her debut in the Malayalam film Chakkara Muthu (2006), and has since appeared primarily in supporting roles in Tamil films.

Personal life

Lakshmy was born and raised in a Tamil Brahmin family in Palakkad, Kerala. She got engaged at the age of 16 and got married when she was 18 years old. [1]

Career

Ramakrishnan ran an event management business in Muscat, Oman from 1992 to 2001, before returning to India and acting and directing films. [2] Director A. K. Lohithadas offered her a supporting role in his next film. Karu Pazhaniappan's Pirivom Santhippom (2008) in which she played the character of Sneha's mother was her first Tamil film, [3] following which she played supporting roles in numerous films. She portrayed an angry mother who wants to avenge her daughter's death in Mysskin's Yuddham Sei (2011). [4] [5] [6] [7] She also tonsured her head for the "once-in-a-lifetime role". [8] [9]

She has worked in television shows. She acted in the serial Aval in STAR Vijay and hosted 1500 episodes of the reality show Solvathellam Unmai in Zee Tamil. She has featured in more than 25 TV Commercials.[ citation needed ]

In 2012, she completed her first feature film, Aarohanam , [3] acclaimed for the sensitive portrayal of mental illness, [10] which received a Special Jury award at the 7th Vijay Awards. [11] Her 4th directorial venture, House Owner , has been selected as one of the only two Tamil movies to be screened at the flagship component of the IFFI, Indian Panorama (Goa, 2019).

Ammani is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan. It features herself, Subbalakshmi and Nithin Sathya in the leading roles. The film, produced by Ven Govinda, released on 14 October 2016.

E. Ramdoss was an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor who worked on Tamil films.

Sirithal Rasipen is a 2009 Tamil language comedy film directed, written and produced by V. Chandrasekaran. The film stars Sathya and Sunu Lakshmi, alongside an ensemble cast of M. S. Bhaskar, Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Manobala, Kalpana, Mayilsamy, Lollu Sabha Balaji, Sathyan, Ansiba Hassan, Thyagu, and Shanmugarajan, amongst others, in supporting roles. The film was released on 3 July 2009 and is a remake of the Malayalam film Sathyabhamakkoru Premalekhanam (1996).

<i>House Owner</i> 2019 Indian action drama film

House Owner is a 2019 Indian Tamil language action drama film written and directed by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan and produced by her husband Ramakrishnan Gopalakrishnan under the banner of Monkey Creative Labs and in association with Seven Wonders Motion Pictures. House Owner is one among 21 Indian films, and one of the only two Tamil films, selected to be showcased in the Indian Panorama, the flagship component of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa 2019. The film stars Kishore, Sriranjani, Pasanga Kishore and Lovelyn in the lead roles. M. Ghibran composed the background score of the film. Principal photography commenced on 10 July 2018. The film had its theatrical release on 28 June 2019 and received positive reviews from critics.
