The Las Vegas Desert Dogs are a professional box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League. The team plays at Lee's Family Forum in Henderson, Nevada. The team began play in the 2023 NLL season.

History

On June 21, 2021, the NLL awarded an expansion franchise to the city of Las Vegas and co-owners Joseph Tsai, Wayne Gretzky, Steve Nash and Dustin Johnson. The team began play in the 2022–2023 season beginning in winter 2022 at Michelob Ultra Arena. Tsai is the owner of the San Diego Seals and has received special permission from the NLL to own multiple teams. [1] [2] [3] Shawn Williams, one of the most accomplished players in NLL history, has been selected to lead the Las Vegas Desert Dogs as the franchise’s first general manager and head coach.

Shawn Williams is the inaugural General Manager and Head Coach of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He is a former Canadian lacrosse player who played for the Ontario Raiders, Toronto Rock, Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Knighthawks and Edmonton Rush of the NLL and the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse. He was also previously a scout for the Buffalo Bandits and assistant coach with the Colorado Mammoth. He was inducted to the NLL Hall of Fame in 2021 as a first ballot nominee.

Rob Hellyer is a Canadian professional lacrosse player. He is a forward and the captain for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs of the National Lacrosse League.

The 2023 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2022–2023 season, was the 36th in the history of the NLL. The season began on December 2, 2022, and ended with the NLL final on June 3, 2023. This was the inaugural season for the expansion team Las Vegas Desert Dogs.

The San Diego Seals are a lacrosse team based in San Diego, California. The team plays in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The 2023 season is their 4th season in the NLL. The season started on December 3, 2022, and their home opener was on December 9, 2022, against the Saskatchewan Rush. That game was First Responder Appreciation Night.

The Las Vegas Desert Dogs are a lacrosse team based in Las Vegas, Nevada playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The 2023 season is the inaugural season for the franchise and will play their home games in the Michelob Ultra Arena. They are owned by Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai, former NHL player Wayne Gretzky, former NBA player Steve Nash and pro golfer Dustin Johnson. All games will be televised on MyLVTV and streamed on ESPN+.
