The Las Vegas Legends are a semi-professional soccer team based in Paradise, Nevada. They play in the National Premier Soccer League, a fourth-tier league in the American soccer pyramid.

History

The club was founded in 2012 as an indoor soccer team as a member of the Major Arena Soccer League. [1] During their time in the MASL, the Legends split their home games between the Orleans Arena and the Las Vegas Sports Park. The team's president and general manager is Meir Cohen. [2] The team included a mix of local, regional, and international players. [1] [3] [4] [5] [6] The team did not return after the 2015–16 season.

On September 5, 2019, it was announced that the club would return to competitive play in 2020 as a member of the National Premier Soccer League In 2021 The team finished 1st Place in the Southwest Division. In Fall 2021 the team joined the NISA Nation. [7]

On Jan 12, 2024, NISA promoted Las Vegas Legends to NISA Pro, in what was called "the first-ever intra-system, merit-based promotion to pro in modern U.S. soccer." [8] This would allow the Legends to play in the NISA for the 2025 season, pending USSF approval.

The Las Vegas Legends again finished first in the Southwest Division in 2024 with a perfect 10-0-0 record. However, the team was barred from participating in the 2024 NPSL Playoffs due to not meeting their financial obligations to the league. [9]

Las Vegas Legends U20 plays in the Nevada-Utah Premier League, where they won the 2021 season, as part of the SWPL.[ citation needed ]

The Las Vegas Americans were a soccer team based out of Las Vegas that played in the original Major Indoor Soccer League. Prior to Las Vegas, the team had operated as the Memphis Americans. They only played in Las Vegas during the 1984–85 season and lost in the first round of the playoffs that year. The Las Vegas Americans finished their only season in the league with a 30–18 record earning them second place in the Western Division of the league. Their home arena was Thomas & Mack Center, and their average attendance was 6,337.

The Las Vegas Dustdevils were an indoor soccer team based in Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, that played in the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). The team won the league championship in 1994, but folded after their second season.

The 2013 LFL US Season was the fourth season of LFL United States, the first in the rebranded Legends Football League, and the fifth in the combined history of that league and its predecessor, the Lingerie Football League. The San Diego Sockers, a Pacific Division team in the Professional Arena Soccer League and the 2012–13 league champion, played their home games in the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. The team was led by general manager John Kentera and head coach Phil Salvagio with assistant coach Ray Taila. The Sockers finished the regular season 2nd in the Pacific Division with a 13–3 record, qualifying for the post-season but lost to the Las Vegas Legends in the Division Final.
