The Professional Futsal League is a planned professional futsal league in the United States. The league was founded in 2016 and it was intended to begin play in 2018. [1] [2]

History

In February 2016, Mark Cuban purchased a principal ownership stake in the PFL. [3] In an attempt to build support for the league, the PFL announced an All-star game to be played on August 4, 2016 in Orlando. [4] On August 17, 2019, the PFL International Challenge was held at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas, featuring the FC Barcelona Futsal under-23 team, Dallas Sidekicks, Team USA and Team Australia.

The Copa Paulino Alcantara, also known as the PFL Cup, is an annual professional football tournament in the Philippines, organized by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). It is contested by the clubs of the Philippines Football League (PFL), along with guest clubs, and takes place after the PFL season. Participating clubs play in a round-robin group stage followed by a knockout phase and concluded by a final. Until 2023, winners would qualify for the following season's AFC Champions League qualifying play-offs preliminary round; failure to advance to the AFC Champions League group stage would have transferred them to the AFC Cup.

The 2020 Philippines Football League, also known as The Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways, due to the league's title sponsorship, was the fourth season of the Philippines Football League (PFL), the professional football league of the Philippines.

The 2022–23 Philippines Football League is the fifth season of Philippines Football League (PFL), the professional football league of the Philippines. This is the second season of the PFL under the sponsorship of Qatar Airways. The season started on August 7, 2022, and will conclude in May 2023, marking the first time during the Philippines Football League era that a season takes place over two years rather than just one. The league is contested by seven teams, the most since the 2019 season, which played each other four times during the season. Each team will play 24 matches in total, the most since the 2019 season.
