Leo Determan (born 7 April 1949 in Rotterdam) is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games in Medemblik The Netherlands. Determan in the middle together with helmsman Rudy den Outer and Ronald den Arend on the foredeck took the Gold medal in the Soling. [1] Leo holds several Dutch titles (1995, 1999, 2000, 2008 and 2001) and one Italian title (2010) in the Soling. He used to be member of Yacht Club VZOD, Rotterdam.

Sailing

After sailing as crew on a "Vrijheid class", Determan purchased the Flying Dutchman H 125 "Aquarius" in 1970. With Rudy den Outer he sailed Flying Dutchman, Spanker (a Dutch National class) and Soling for many years and for a brief period Tempest. Depending on the class they changed positions as crew or helmsman.

Professional life

Determan works in the mineral oil industry. In 2005 Gulf Oil Nederland BV in Den Helder named her new Bunker barge after Determan. [2] [3]

The Flying Dutchman (FD) is a 20-foot one-design high-performance two-person monohull racing dinghy. Developed in the early 1950s in the Netherlands, its large sail area per unit weight allow it to plane easily when sailing upwind. 2018 Vintage Yachting Games Place in Hovedstaden, Denmark

The 2018 Vintage Yachting Games was be the third post-Olympic multi-class sailing event for discontinued Olympic and Paralympic Classes. The event was be held from 16–22 September 2018 on Øresund, Copenhagen in Denmark. The organization of this event was executed by a joint venture of the Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub and the Hellerup Sejlklub. The Vintage Yachting Games Organization (VYGO) was the governing organization. The competition took place in 3 Vintage Yachting Classes.

Nick de Jong (sailor) Olympic sailor

Nicolaas Pieter "Nick" de Jong is a retired sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Enoshima. De Jong, as crew on the Dutch Flying Dutchman Daisy (H157), took the 6th place with helmsman Ben Verhagen. During the 1968 Summer Olympics in Acapulco he crewed Daisy (H187), again with helmsman Ben Verhagen to and an 18th place in the Flying Dutchman. For the 1972 Olympics De Jong made the switch from the Flying Dutchman to crew on the Soling with helmsman Heiki Blok and Rolf Kurpershoek. This team was nominated for the games by the KNWV. The nomination however did not resulted in a selection by the Dutch NOC.

Steven Bakker Olympic sailor

Steven Feico Alle Bakker is a sailor from the Netherlands. Since the Netherlands did boycott the Moscow Olympic Games Bakker represented his National Olympic Committee at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Tallinn, USSR under the Dutch NOC flag. With his father Geert Bakker as helmsman and fellow crew member Dick Coster, Bakker took the 5th place in the Soling. In the 1988 Olympics in Pusan Bakker made his second Olympic appearance. This time as helmsman in the Dutch Star with Kobus Vandenberg as crew. They took 9th place.

Dick Coster Olympic sailor

Benedictus Antonius Maria "Dick" Coster is a sailor from the Netherlands. Since the Netherlands did boycott the Moscow Olympic Games Coster represented his National Olympic Committee at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Tallinn, USSR under the Dutch NOC flag. With Geert Bakker as helmsman and fellow crew member Steven Bakker, Coster took the 5th place in the Soling. During the 1976 Olympics Coster was substitute for the Dutch Soling team.

Henry Koning Olympic sailor

Henry Arthur Koning is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Pusan. With Hans Schelling as crew, Koning took the 15th place in the Flying Dutchman.

Rudy den Outer Dutch sailor

Rudy den Outer is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games in Medemblik, as helmsman in the Dutch Soling Sophie’s Choice. Den Outer with crew members Leo Determan and Ronald den Arend took the Gold. In the 2012 Vintage Yachting Games, this time with crew members Gavin Lidlow and Ramzi Souli the team took the Silver medal in Bellano, Italy. In 2003 with helmsman Fred Imhoff and Richard van Rij he became European Champion in the Dragon at Kinsale, Ireland. Den Outer is also very active in the organization of major International Sailing events for Olympic and former Olympic classes.

Jacob Cornelis de Zeeuw is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Kingston, Ontario, Canada as substitute for the Dutch 470 team of Joop van Werkhoven and Robert van Werkhoven.

Theo de Lange Dutch sailor

Theodorus "Theo" Adrianus de Lange is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2018 Vintage Yachting Games in Hellerup Denmark. De Lange as middleman together with helmsman Rudy den Outer and Gabor Helmhout on the foredeck took the Gold medal in the Soling. During the 2019 North American Championship in Kingston, Ontario, De Lange again as middleman in the Dutch Soling Sophie’s Choice together with helmsman Rudy den Outer but now with Thies Bosch on the foredeck took first place. This was the first time European sailors won this championship in the over fifty years history of the North American Soling Championship!

Ramzi Souli Dutch sailor

Ramzi Souli is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2012 Vintage Yachting Games in Bellano Italy. Souli on the fordeck together with helmsman Rudy den Outer and Gavin Lidlow in the middle took the Silver medal in the Soling. During the 2012 Soling Europeans in Aarhus, Denmark as well as at the 2014 Soling Europeans in Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, France the same team took the 3rd place. Ramzi holds several Dutch titles in the Soling. He is member of the Kralingsche Zeil Club in Rotterdam.

Ronald den Arend Dutch sailor

Ronald den Arend is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games in Medemblik, The Netherlands. Den Arend on the foredeck, together with helmsman Rudy den Outer and Leo Determan in the middle, took the Gold medal in the Soling. Ronald holds several Dutch titles in the Soling. He is a member of the Kralingsche Zeil Club in Rotterdam.
