Leptothyra is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Colloniidae. [2]
This genus was previously placed in the family Turbinidae.
The name Leptothyra is generally attributed to Pease (1869), and the name "Leptothyra Pease, 1869" is usually treated as a valid name for small colloniines. Although Leptothyra is a junior objective synonym of Homalopoma, the species usually treated as valid in that genus are provisionally listed in WoRMS under "Leptothyra sensu Pease, 1869", pending a taxonomic/nomenclatural reappraisal. [2]
LeptothyraJ. G. Cooper, 1867 is now considered a junior objective synonym of the genus Homalopoma Carpenter, 1864 [3]
The small, solid shell has a turbinate or globose shape. The operculum is multispiral with a subcentral nucleus and concave in the centre outside. The main character distinguishing Collonia from Leptothyra seems to be the peculiar peristome of the former. [4]
Species within the genus Leptothyra include:
Trochus is a genus of medium-sized to large, top-shaped sea snails with an operculum and a pearly inside to their shells, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Trochidae, the top snails.

Triphora is a genus of very small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Triphoridae. The genus was named by Blainville in 1828, and the type species is Triphora gemmata Blainville, 1828. Like most of the other genera in this family, the shells of species in this genus are extremely high-spired with sculptural decoration, and are sinistral (left-handed) in coiling.
