Liberty High School is a public high school located in the city of Frisco, Texas, United States. It is classified as a 5A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Frisco Independent School District located in east central Collin County, and is currently one of ten high schools in the district. The school initially opened in 2006 in what is now Fowler Middle School and the following year opened in its own building on Rolater Road. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. [2] It has a rivalry with Centennial High School, which the students refer to as the "Rolater Rumble”

Contents

Wingspan

Wingspan is Liberty High School's award winning website. The website has won multiple NSPA Pacemaker Awards among many others throughout the years. The editorial staff consists of students, working together with the rest of the staff. The editors for the 2020-2021 school year were Aaron Boehmer, Trisha Dasgupta, Shreya Jagan, Caroline Caruso, and Ana Cuen. [3] In 2015, the CSPA [4] named it among the top 13 new high school sites in the nation.

Athletics

The Liberty Redhawks compete in the following sports: [5] State championships: In 2017 the girls' cross country team won 5a state championship. In 2020 the girls' varsity basketball team won the state championship over San Antonio Veterans Memorial High Schools 35-26.

Debate team

Liberty's speech and debate team has won district, regional, and state titles in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy (CX) Debate, and Informative and Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking, including UIL CX state qualifications in 2017 and 2018, as well as winning the 2018 5A State Championship title in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. [6] [7] Although occasionally participating in National Speech and Debate Association competitions, the team primarily competes in UIL.

Performing arts

Opportunities for students interested in performing arts include color guard, band, [8] Rockskool, orchestra, [9] theatre, [10] choir, dance team, [11] and marching band. [12]

Languages offered

Language courses offered include Chinese, Spanish and French. American Sign Language was offered in cooperation with nearby CHS but has since been discontinued. German was once offered in cooperation with nearby CHS/HHS, but was discontinued in 2012.

Academic Decathlon

Since opening in 2006, Liberty has excelled at the United States Academic Decathlon. At state level, for the years of 06-07 and 07–08, the team won second place in the 3A division. In the 08-09 year, Liberty won state championship in the 4A division. [13] During the 11-12 competition, it placed second in the regional round [14] as well as 9th in the state round at San Antonio, Texas. [15]

Hebron serves grades ten through twelve; ninth graders attend the adjacent Hebron High School 9th Grade Campus. In 2015, the school was rated “Met Standard” by the Texas Education Agency. Hebron is currently classified as a 6A school by the University Interscholastic League.

Westlake High School is a public high school in unincorporated territory of Travis County, Texas, west of and adjacent to Austin. The school is a part of the Eanes Independent School District. Westlake High School is the only high school in the Eanes ISD and serves West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, parts of Southwest Austin, as well as parts of unincorporated Travis County. The school was established in 1969 and opened in 1970.

Lovejoy High School is a public high school in Lucas, Texas in south-central Collin County. It is the only high school of the Lovejoy Independent School District and is classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). Lovejoy High School serves most of the cities of Lucas, most of Fairview, and a small portion of Allen. Students from outside the district may transfer to Lovejoy High School for a tuition fee. Del Valle High is a public high school located on the southeast side of El Paso, Texas. DV, as it is commonly called, is part of the Ysleta Independent School District, serving 2,000 students in grades 9 to 12. At the start of the 2022 academic year, Ivan Cedillo was appointed principal of Del Valle High School. The TEA association classifies Del Valle as a "recognized school" as of 2011.

Lebanon Trail High School is a public high school located in Frisco, Texas, United States that is part of the Frisco Independent School District. The school opened its doors in August 2016 for the 2016–2017 academic year. The school is the district's ninth high school. Upon opening, only freshman attended the school, unlike most other high schools in the district. This decision was made by the district in order to not move students from high schools multiple times, as other high schools had recently opened in the area less than 4 years prior. Around 2,000 students attend Lebanon High making it one of the largest high schools in Frisco ISD in terms of student population.
