Rockwall Independent School District is a public school district established in 1841 in Rockwall, Texas.
In addition to Rockwall, the district serves the cities of Heath, McLendon-Chisholm, Mobile City, most of Fate, and small portions of Rowlett, Wylie, Garland, and Dallas in Rockwall County. [7] The district also extends into a very small portion of northern Kaufman County, including sections of Heath and Travis Ranch. [8] A very small section extends to Collin County. [9]
In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. [10]
Because Rockwall is one of the fastest-growing communities in the US, Rockwall is planning for constructions of more schools.

Its county seat is Rockwall. The county and city are named for a wall-like subterranean rock formation that runs throughout the county.
