Nurfitriyana Saiman-Lantang is a retired Indonesian archer who became a coach after retiring as a player. Together with Lilies Handayani and Kusuma Wardhani she won a team silver medal at the 1988 Olympics, bringing the first ever Olympic medal to Indonesia. She also competed in the individual and team events at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics; her best individual result was a ninth place finish in 1988. In the 1980s, Saiman won multiple medals in individual recurve events at the SEA Games. After retiring from competitions she worked as a coach and prepared the national archery team for the 2016 Olympics.

Indonesia also regularly participates in regional multi-events sport, such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and Olympic Games. Indonesia is one of the major sport powerhouses in the Southeast Asian region, winning the Southeast Asian Games 10 times since 1977.
Indonesia first participated in the Olympic Games in 1952 and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for two; in 1964 due to controversy around the 1962 Asian Games when they banned Israel and the then-internationally recognized Republic of China which resulted in a ban for their track and field team, and in 1980, when they participated in the U.S.-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Indonesia is yet to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The nation's non-participation in the Winter Olympics is largely due to the lack of sporting facilities for winter sports on its territory.
Liliyana Natsir is an Indonesian former badminton player who specialized in doubles. She is one of the standout front court player, with dexterousness and skill in controlling and executing the shuttlecock. Natsir has tremendous record over more than two decade by winning a gold and a silver from the Olympic Games, and four gold medals at the BWF World Championships. Her achievements are recognized worldwide, and was inducted in the BWF Hall of Fame in 2022.
Greysia Polii is an Indonesian former badminton player specializing in doubles. She won gold medals in the women's doubles at the 2014 Asian Games, at the 2019 SEA Games and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She also won three bronze medals at the World Championships in 2015, 2018, and 2019. Polii is a member of BWF Athletes' Commission to represent the needs and views of athletes to the BWF council and committees from 2013 to 2017 and 2021 to 2025.
Utami Dewi Kinard is a former world-class badminton player who was considered Indonesia's #1 women's singles player in the 1970s, and became the United States' #1 player in 1981, after marrying former 6 time U.S. men's singles champion, Chris Kinard. She is also the sister of 8 time All-England singles champion, Rudy Hartono.
Indonesia participated in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore with 14 athletes. The team competed in a total of seven sports: archery, badminton, cycling, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, and weightlifting. According to the head of the national contingent, Ade Lukman, athlete training was conducted by individual managers of each sport. All athletes were gathered in Jakarta on 6 August for a cultural training session.
Kusuma Wardhani was an Indonesian archer and an Olympic silver medallist. Together with Nurfitriyana Saiman and Lilies Handayani she won the women's team silver medal at the 1988 Olympics, bringing the first ever Olympic medal to Indonesia. In the 1980s, Wardhani won multiple medals in individual recurve events at the SEA Games. After retiring from competitions she headed the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Bali.

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Cahyaningsih is an Indonesian badminton player in women's singles. She started her career at the badminton club PB Mutiara Cardinal in Bandung, West Java, and was called to the national team in 2013. She was the girls' singles champion at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Tunjung also captained the Indonesia women's team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships, where they emerged champions.

Apriyani Rahayu is an Indonesian badminton player specializing in doubles. She and Greysia Polii won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics champions in the women's doubles. In addition, she also managed to collect 7 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals during her career throughout the year 1985–2008 at the National Sports Week. The highest achievement of her career at table tennis was when she was ranked 17th in the women's singles and women's doubles with Ling Ling Agustin at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
The opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games took place on Saturday, 18 August 2018, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event commenced at 19:00 Indonesia Western Time (UTC+7) and ended at 21:25 local time. Wishnutama Kusubandio was the creative director of the ceremony. The ceremony featured a stage designed as a 26-meter-high mountain with a waterfall. It weighed 600 tons, was 120 meters long and 30 meters wide, and included a display of Indonesian plants and flowers, as well as a mock volcano. The volcano symbolized Indonesia's location in the "Ring of Fire" surrounding the Pacific Ocean. Host event broadcasting company International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS) filmed the televised coverage of the ceremony live internationally.

They have mostly worked on the action, thriller, and horror genres. They first became known for directing the short film Dara in 2007, which became the basis of their 2009 feature film debut Macabre. Together, they have received a Citra Award Best Director nomination in 2016 for directing the action film Headshot, after which Tjahjanto and Stamboel have gone on to make movies individually to further critical and commercial success.
