Line 21 of the Shenzhen Metro is an express line under planning, which will connect across Shenzhen through the districts of Nanshan, Longhua and Longgang for 66 kilometers and 26 stations. [1] The first phase of Line 21 originally entered Phase V planning in September 2022, and will run from Aobei to Longyuan in Longgang District, with 6 stations and 12.5 kilometers of track, [2] [3] however planning has been put on hold since 31 March 2023. The line is proposed to use 8 car type A trains. [4]

In the southern terminus of the line, a 555 meters long and 50.5 meters wide double deck underground depot capable of storing 16 trains will be constructed.

Line 22 of the Guangzhou Metro is a partially open rapid transit express line in Guangzhou with trains operating up to 160 km/h (99 mph). It runs between Panyu Square and Chentougang, passing Guangzhou South Railway Station in Panyu District, and will eventually run in a north-south direction passing Xilang and Fangcun in Liwan District. Currently, there are train attendants on board each train. In the future, trains will operate fully driverless GoA4 mode when sufficient reliability from the signaling system has been confirmed.

Line 16 of the Shenzhen Metro is a metro line in north-eastern Shenzhen. It was opened on 28 December 2022. It runs from Universiade in Longgang District to Tianxin in Pingshan District. It operates 24 stations and the line is 29.2 kilometers long.

Line 17 of the Shenzhen Metro is a Phase V expansion metro line under planning in the eastern Shenzhen districts of Luohu and Longgang. Phase 1 of Line 17 will run from Luohu West in Luohu District to Shanglilang in Longgang District, with 18 stations and 18.8 kilometers of track.

Line 15 of the Shenzhen Metro is a Phase V expansion metro line under construction, which will connect the districts of Bao'an, Nanshan and Qianhai for 32.2 kilometers and 24 stations. Construction started on 28 June 2023. The line is proposed to use 4 car and 6 car type A trains.

Line 18 of the Shenzhen Metro is an express line under planning, which will connect across Shenzhen for 69.1 kilometers and 29 stations through the districts of Bao'an, Guangming, Guanlan, Pinghu, Longgang and Yantian. The first phase of Line 18 originally entered Phase V planning in September 2022, and will run from Shajing in Bao'an District to Baihua in Guangming District, with 8 stations and 18.7 kilometers of track, however planning has been put on hold since 31 March 2023. The line is proposed to use 6 car type A trains.

The line is proposed to use 6 car type B trains.

Line 29 of the Shenzhen Metro is a line under planning, which will connect the districts of Nanshan, Bao'an and Guangming for 30.6 kilometers and 24 stations. Construction is planned to begin in 2023. The first phase of Line 29 has entered Phase V planning, and will run from Hongshuwan South in Nanshan District to Xingdong in Bao'an District, with 10 stations and 11.3 kilometers of track. The line is proposed to use 6 car type B trains.

Line 25 of the Shenzhen Metro is a line under planning, which will connect across Shenzhen through the districts of Luohu, Longhua, Longgang and Bao'an for 38.5 kilometers and 30 stations. Construction is planned to begin in 2023. The first phase of Line 25 has entered Phase V planning, and will run from Jihua Hospital in Longgang District to Shilong in Bao'an District, with 14 stations and 16.2 kilometers of track. The line is proposed to use 6 car type B trains.

Line 19 of the Shenzhen Metro is a line under planning, which will connect the districts of Longgang and Pingshan for 33 kilometers and 18 stations. Construction is planned to begin in 2023. The first phase of Line 19 has entered Phase V planning, and will run from Nantangwei to Julong in Pingshan District, with 12 stations and 12.5 kilometers of track. The line is proposed to use 6 car type B trains.

Line 32 of the Shenzhen Metro is a line under planning, which will run entirely in Dapeng New District from Xichong at the terminus of Line 8 to the town of Kuichong for approximately 9.5 kilometers. Construction is planned to begin in 2023.
