Lingleville is an unincorporated community and is located in Erath County, Texas, United States. Lingleville is located at the intersection of Fms 8 and 219, ten miles west of Stephenville, in west central Erath County.

History

In 1884 R. P. Campbell opened a grocery store in his house in the hollow below what is now the townsite. Before a post office was established there, the community was called Needmore. It was renamed to honor John Lingle, who had settled there in 1874. In 1940 the town had the post office, four businesses, and 200 residents. In 1980 through 2000 its population was reported as 100. Education

The Lingleville Independent School District serves area students and home to the Lingleville High School Cardinals.

The climate in this area is characterized by relatively high temperatures and evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year. The Köppen Climate System describes the weather as humid subtropical, and uses the abbreviation Cfa. [2]

The community is a part of the Texas-German Belt which runs from Schulenburg in the east, and west through the Hill Country to Fredericksburg. Most residents of Fischer have German-Texan ancestry, and the name Fischer is named after Otto and Hermann Fischer, German immigrants.

Alexander is an unincorporated community located in southern Erath County in Central Texas, United States. Alexander is located in the southern part of the county, along Texas State Highway 6 and Fm-914. The town was originally called: "Harper's Mill" when the Post Office was approved for operation around the 1870s. The name was changed in the 1880s, when the Texas Central line, part of the historic Katy Railroad, was built from east to west through the townsite on its way from the Waco area to Stamford, with a branch to Cross Plains from the line at De Leon. In 1907, the Stephenville North and South Texas Railway, part of the Cotton Belt Route, was constructed from north to south and intersected with the Katy's line in Alexander. This made the town an important community for business in the area. The Cotton Belt Route ran from Stephenville through to nearby Carlton. On October 17, 1934, the Cotton Belt Route was abandoned from Stephenville to Hamilton. The Katy Railroad remained through Alexander until its abandonment in the late 1960s. The Alexander post office closed in 1970 and the population remained at a steady 40 from the 1970s through 2000.

Purves is an unincorporated community in Erath County, Texas, United States. Purves is located in the southwestern part of the county, along Fm-219 South, seven miles south of the City of Dublin.

Edna Hill is an unincorporated community in Erath County, Texas, United States, located in the extreme southwestern corner of the county along Fm-1702, approximately nine miles south of the City of Dublin in Central Texas. The first settlers of the area arrived around the 1850s. In the early 1900s, a school was opened in the community and from 1935 to 1940 Edna Hill consisted of the school, numerous homes, and two churches. In the last half of the 1940s, the Edna Hill School District consolidated with Dublin Schools. In the 1960s, Edna Hill's population was around 32, a figure which it remained steady from the late 1970s through the 2000s.

Harbin is an unincorporated community located in Erath County in Central Texas, United States. Harbin is in the southwestern part of the county at the intersections of Fm-847 and the Fort Worth and Western Railroad, four miles east-northeast of the City of Dublin.

Lingleville High School or Lingleville School is a public high school located in Lingleville, Texas (USA) and classified as a 1A school by the UIL. It is part of the Lingleville Independent School District located in northwestern Erath County. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.
