Alexandru Epureanu is the player with the most appearances for Moldova. [1] He made his debut in a 2–0 UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying loss against Norway on 6 September 2006, and has since been a regular in the national team, wearing the captain's armband on several occasions. [2] In September 2019, Epureanu retired from the national team due to a knee injury. [3] However, he returned in August 2020, [4] and is still active for Moldova. [2] On 31 March 2021, he made his 100th appearance for Moldova in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Israel. [5]
Victor Golovatenco is in second place with 79 appearances, followed by Radu Rebeja with 74 appearances. [1]
Serghei Cleșcenco is the all-time top goalscorer of the Moldova national team. He scored 11 goals in 69 matches between 1991 and 2006. [6]
Moldova's first ever match was a friendly match against Georgia on 2 July 1991. [7] Five of the players on this list took part in the match, including Radu Rebeja and Serghei Cleșcenco. [8] [9]
Moldova have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship, so the matches listed below are either qualifying matches for those two tournaments, UEFA Nations League matches, or friendly matches.

The Moldova national football team represents Moldova in international football and is controlled by the Moldovan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Moldova. Moldova's home ground is Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău and their head coach is Serghei Cleșcenco. Shortly before the break-up of the Soviet Union, they played their first match against Georgia on 2 July 1991.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Moldavian SSR in February and March 1990 to elect the 380 members of the Supreme Soviet. They were the first and only free elections to the Supreme Soviet of the MSSR, and although the Communist Party of Moldova was the only registered party allowed to contest the election, opposition candidates were allowed to run as independents. Together with affiliated groups, the Popular Front of Moldova won a landslide victory. Candidates who were openly supporters of the Popular Front won about 27% of seats; together with moderate Communists, mainly from rural districts, they commanded a majority.

The 2012–13 Moldovan National Division is the 22nd season of top-tier football in Moldova. The competition began on 13 July 2012 and ended in May 2013.
The 2013–14 Moldovan National Division is the 23rd season of top-tier football in Moldova. The competition began in July 2013 and ended in May 2014.
FC Zimbru is a Moldovan football club based in Botanica, Chișinău. They were the first Moldovan club to enter European competition, entering the UEFA Champions League in 1993. Since then, the club has competed in every UEFA-organised competition, with the exception of the now-defunct Intertoto Cup.
Zimbru played their first European match on 18 August 1993 against Beitar from Jerusalem. The match took place at Republican Stadium in Chișinău, ended in a 1–1 draw, with Radu Rebeja scoring the equalizer in front of 13,000 spectators.
