The following lists the Turkic Speaking States Heads of States Summits organized between 1992 and 2010. These summits were followed by the Turkic Council summits between 2011-2021 and as Organization of Turkic States summits since 2022.
The first Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Ankara, Turkey in October 30, 1992. [1] [2]
The second Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Istanbul, Turkey in October 18, 1994. [1] [2]
The third Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in August 28, 1995. [1] [2]
The fourth Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in October 21, 1996. [1] [2]
The fifth Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Astana, Kazakhstan in June 9, 1998. [1] [2]
The sixth Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in April 8, 2000. [1] [2]
The seventh Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Istanbul, Turkey in April 26, 2001. [1] [3]
The eighth Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Antalya, Turkey in November 17, 2006. [1] [4]
The ninth Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan in October 3, 2009. The Nakhchivan Agreement signed for founding the Turkic Council. [1] [5]
The tenth and last Turkic Speaking States summit was held in Istanbul, Turkey in September 15, 2010. [1] A consultative board of elders has been established. [6]
There is no formal Scouting organization yet in Turkmenistan, due to the political situation and because Turkmenistan refuses to join any organization because of its "status of permanent neutrality," which was accepted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 12, 1995. The only widespread outreach activities for Turkmen children between ages 8-14 are 10 to 14 day camps that do not provide any educational components but organize some cultural events like concerts, poems and dance competitions.
The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It is a forum based on the recognition that there is a close link between peace, security and stability in Asia and in the rest of the world. The key idea of the Conference is based on the priority of the indivisibility of security, joint initiative and mutually beneficial interaction of small and large states.
The Central Asian Union (CAU), later called the Central Asian Economic Union, was an intergovernmental organization for economic integration between the Central Asian post-Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan between 1994 and 2004. Tajikistan joined the Union in 1996 as an observer. Several proposals to restore the Union have been put forward since its dissolution.
Foreign relations exist between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan has an embassy in Astana and a consulate in Aktau. Kazakhstan has an embassy in Baku.
The Organization of Turkic States (OTS), formerly called the Turkic Council or the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, is an intergovernmental organization comprising all but one of the internationally recognized Turkic sovereign states: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan; while Hungary and Turkmenistan are observers. Its overarching aim is promoting comprehensive cooperation among the Turkic peoples. First proposed by Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2006, it was founded on 3 October 2009 in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan. The General Secretariat is located in Turkey's Istanbul.
The International Organization of Turkic Culture or TÜRKSOY is an international cultural organization of countries with Turkic populations, speaking languages belonging to the Turkic language family.
Heydar Aliyev, the former President of Azerbaijan, died on 12 December 2003 in the Cleveland Clinic at 10 am local time from heart failure at the age of 80. On 14 December, his coffin was taken to Baku.
The 1993 ECO summit was the second Economic Cooperation Organization summit, held between 6–7 May in Istanbul, Turkey. Afghanistan was welcomed as the 10th member state of the ECO during the summit.
The 1995 ECO summit was the third Economic Cooperation Organization summit, held 14–15 May 1995 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The 1996 ECO summit was the fourth Economic Cooperation Organization summit, held between 14 and 15 May 1996 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The 1995 Moscow Victory Day Parades were two military parades held on 9 May 1995 to commemorate the historic 50th anniversary golden jubilee of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in 1945. The parades marked the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War. These were the first post-Soviet military parades held in Russia the first one being in held for veterans on Red Square at 8:00 in the morning followed by another parade of infantry and military equipment at Poklonnaya Hill at 3:00 in the afternoon.
The 2012 ECO summit was the twelfth Economic Cooperation Organization summit, held on 16 October 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Relations between Turkic Council and Azerbaijan started from the year of 2009 until present. Taking into account of the establishment date of the organization, Azerbaijan continues relations as a member of the founding country.
In the Soviet period, the Caspian Sea was practically an inland water basin within the Soviet Union's borders and washed off the coast of Iran only to the south. Until 1992, the status of the Caspian was regulated by the Soviet-Iranian treaties. After the collapse of the USSR, the emergence of the independent states of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan raised the issue of dividing the Caspian Sea.
The 2022 Organization of Turkic States summit, officially the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States summit, was a meeting between the leaders of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on 11 November 2022.
The Supreme Order of Turkic World is the highest order of the Organization of Turkic States. The order is awarded by the chairperson of the organization, who is simultaneously the head of state or head of government of one of the member countries. Established in 2019, the order recognizes outstanding service to the Turkic World.
