Greasy Kid Stuff was an American radio show that aired Saturday mornings from 9-10 AM on KXRY 91.1 FM and 107.1 FM, and live and archived at XRAY.FM out of Portland, Oregon. It was hosted by Belinda Miller, Hova Najarian, and their daughter Georgia, a/k/a "DJ Georgia" and f/k/a "DJ Waah Waah". The program was known for playing non-traditional and offbeat music from many genres that kids can appreciate, much of it rock 'n' roll that was not originally created with kids in mind. From 1994 to 2006 the show was on WFMU, the New York/New Jersey area freeform station.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jeff Mangum</span> Neofolk musician from the United States

Jeffrey Nye Mangum is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who gained prominence as the founder, songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of Neutral Milk Hotel, as well for his co-founding of The Elephant 6 Recording Company. Mangum is characterized for his complex, lyrically dense songwriting, exemplified on the critically lauded album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, as well as for his public image as a recluse associated with his extended periods of musical inactivity and minimal press interaction. An article published in Slate described Mangum as the "Salinger of Indie Rock." In 2023 Jeff Mangum received a Grammy award nomination for "Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package".

Gilles Jérôme Moehrle MBE, better known as Gilles Peterson, is a French broadcaster, DJ, and record label owner. He founded the influential labels Acid Jazz and Talkin' Loud, and started his current label Brownswood Recordings in 2006. He was awarded an honorary MBE in 2004, the AIM Award for Indie Champion and the Mixmag Award for Outstanding Contribution To Dance Music in 2013, the PRS for Music Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music Radio in 2014, and The A&R Award from the Music Producers Guild in 2019.

WFMU is a listener-supported, independent community radio station licensed to East Orange, New Jersey. Since 1998, it has been headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey. It broadcasts in northeast New Jersey at 91.1 Mhz FM, to New York City and Rockland County via a repeater at 91.9 FM, and in the Hudson Valley, the Lower Catskills, western New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania from Mount Hope, New York at 90.1 via the repeater station WMFU. It is the longest-running free-form radio station in the U.S. The station's main terrestrial transmitter is located in West Orange, New Jersey.

Irwin Chusid is a journalist, music historian, radio personality, record producer, and self-described "landmark preservationist". His stated mission has been to "find things on the scrapheap of history that I know don't belong there and salvage them." Those "things" have included such previously overlooked but now-celebrated icons as composer/bandleader/electronic music pioneer Raymond Scott, Space Age Pop avatar Esquivel, illustrator/fine artist Jim Flora, various outsider musicians, and The Langley Schools Music Project. Chusid calls himself "a connoisseur of marginalia," while admitting he's "a terrible barometer of popular taste."

KNRK's studios and offices are located on SW Bancroft Street in Downtown Portland. while the station transmitter is located off SW Fairmont Court in Portland.

Double Dee and Steinski is a duo of hip hop producers, composed of Doug "Double Dee" DiFranco and Steven "Steinski" Stein. They achieved notoriety in the early 1980s for a series of underground hip-hop sample-based collages known as the "Lessons".

Twin Cities hip hop, also referred to as Minneapolis hip hop, is sub-genre of rap music that originates from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

DJ Hix is a Northern Irish DJ, radio presenter, and music producer. As a music producer his artist name is Hix. He is known for presenting radio shows on Cool FM, a commercial radio station based in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. He is also known for his live DJ sets and his commercially released music. DJ Hix was born in London before moving to Northern Ireland at a young age.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Radio23</span> Radio station

Radio23 was a non-commercial, freeform radio station founded by Programming Director Jeff Hylton Simmons and launched in 2009. It was shut down in July 2015. The successor called Freeform Portland went on air in April 2016. Based out of Portland, Oregon, where it supported the local artists and community, the station's goal was to provide an international artistic platform for home broadcasters around the world, and to teach anyone around the world how to create radio with a computer and an internet connection. Radio23 is connected with radio stations that include Cascade Community Radio, Hearth Music, WFMU, KDVS, CKUT-FM, KZME, KBOO, Error FM, and Willamette Radio, and also with the magazine War, Semen and Grooviness.

KZME-FM was a radio station in Portland, Oregon. A playlist and the call sign were broadcast from KQAC's HD2 channel. KQAC HD2 served as another signal for the station for some time prior to KZME going silent. Notable regular DJs and personnel were Dennise Kowalczyk, James Dineen, Aron Howell and audio engineer David Elkin-Bram.

Francisco Andres Lucio, better known by his stage name Frankie Biggz, is an American record producer, musician, singer, songwriter, and DJ.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">NTS Radio</span> Online radio station based in London

NTS Radio is an online radio station and media platform which launched in Hackney, East London. The station was founded in April 2011 by Femi Adeyemi "for an international community of music lovers". NTS broadcasts from its studios in London and Los Angeles, as well as remote worldwide broadcasts from its mix of resident hosts and guests. NTS produces a diverse range of live radio shows, digital media and events.

Mike Rogers is a director, producer, and radio host. In 2006, he became the first foreigner in Japanese history to hold a senior position at a major Japanese broadcasting station, when he was appointed as a program director, then general manager at TV Tokyo's InterFM channel. Currently, he hosts the "Mike Rogers Show" internationally. The program previously broadcast exclusively on InterFM channel in Tokyo and on Radio Neo in Nagoya, Japan. He was also a director and co-host of InterFM's weekday morning program "Good Morning Garage". He currently hosts two programs at Love FM 76.1 Kyushu and three regular weekly programs at WFMU in New York.

Bipolar Explorer is an American dreampop band from New York City. Formed in its present state and genre by band co-founders Summer Serafin and Michael Serafin-Wells, the group has released ten albums and seven singles on Slugg Records beginning with 2012's double-album "Of Love and Loss". The band became a trio with the addition of French spoken word artist Sylvia Solanas in 2018.

Monica Lynch is a music business executive, record producer, and former President of hip-hop/dance music label Tommy Boy Records. She has hosted radio programs on free-form WFMU since 1997, and worked as an A&R consultant for Queen Latifah and Martina McBride.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wildgirl</span> Artist and DJ

Ericka Peterson, known professionally as Wildgirl, is an artist and former WFMU DJ. Through the late 1980s and early '90s, her Saturday night radio show Wildgirl's Rockin' Racing and her Wildgirl's Go-Go-Rama live shows at the Coney Island Sideshow are credited with giving birth to the go-go and burlesque revivals.
