Zhou Xun is a Chinese actress and singer. She is regarded as one of the Four Dan Actresses of China. She gained international fame for her roles in Suzhou River (2000) and Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (2002). The Longest Day in Chang'an is a 2019 Chinese historical suspense drama directed by Cao Dun and written by Paw Studio. The series stars Lei Jiayin and Jackson Yee. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ma Boyong. The Longest Day in Chang'an is produced jointly by Youku, Beijing Weying Technology Co., Ltd, Liu Bai Entertainment and Yuyue Film Co., Ltd. The series follows the characters Zhang Xiaojing and Li Bi, and their efforts to foil a terrorist attack on Chang'an, the capital of the Tang dynasty (618–907). It began airing in China on Youku from June 27, 2019.
The Thunder is a 2019 Chinese web television series based on the actual events of Chinese authorities' raid of Boshe village in Guangdong province in December 2013. Across the Furious Sea is a 2023 Chinese crime thriller drama film directed and co-written by Cao Baoping, and starring Huang Bo, Zhou Xun, Zu Feng, Zhang Youhao and Zhou Yiran. The film was adapted from the novel by Lao Huang of the same name published in Fiction Monthly. It is the last instalment of Cao's "Heartburn trilogy" following The Dead End and The Perfect Blue. The film is also the first live-action domestic film in the history of mainland China's film industry to feature an age rating label mandated by the National Film Administration, in accordance with the Film Industry Promotion Law. It was released theatrically in China on November 25, 2023.

The Magnolia Awards were divided into categories for TV series, documentaries, animations, and variety shows. The aim is to honor Chinese-language TV series and variety shows broadcast between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, as well as foreign TV series, documentaries, and animations broadcast from March 1, 2023, until February 29, 2024. The nominations for 17 categories were announced on May 30, 2024, Wong Kar-wai's TV series Blossoms Shanghai led all programs with 9 total nominations, followed by The Long Season and Always On The Move tied with 5 nominations each.
